What size header?

Hi

I have sent some designs to a graphic designer for a header for my new website. She has asked what size I would like. What would you recommend as the best size? Initially I will be putting it on a wordpress blog although I haven't decided upon the theme yet.

    Better to find the theme that you like, and then work the header to suit.

      Your header will have to match your theme, the size anyway. You do not want a theme set width at 960px and then your header at 800px. Once the width is set in your header, the length is no big deal. Just change the length of the header in the CSS and you should be good to go.

    Totally depends on the layout of your website as above the header needs to fit in with your theme.

      Thank you. That makes sense. Should have thought about that myself but got a bit carried away. I've clicked thanks on all but nota-bene's response. Thanks button is covered by the war room icon and can't get round on my iPhone. Will click it when I get home

    940px is the standard nowadays. That's a 960px width leaving 10px's each side for padding.
