Replacing Images in Wordpress

Is there an easy way to replace the header in a Wordpress theme with my own image? I see WP websites all over that are customized in such a way and can't figure out why it's so difficult for me to do. Does it depend on the theme? Do I need to know some html?

Can anyone give me the steps or at least direct me to a tutorial that can walk me through it? Tante grazie!

    Of course wordpress header can be customized..
    But be sure to choose the header that can be customized.. ..
    and it comes with different sizes of header.. Example, the theme you have chosen requires you to insert an 730x180 pixel of header size, then you should have edit your image into the required size...

    The theme I was using is, Redoable Lite; which has an option of: Options: Widgets | Extras | Custom Header | Typekit Fonts | Edit CSS ..
    If you could see CUSTOm header then its the right Theme for you cos you could customize it.. then you just browse for the header image then you upload it..
