Need Help With Dreamweaver CS4 and CSS Coding

Hey Warriors,

I bought a minisite template package from a Warrior. I've already contacted him about the issue but I don't know how long it will take him to reply.

So I was hoping maybe someone else would know the answer.

My template displays fine in IE and Firefox but when I'm in Design View inside Dreamweaver CS4, all of the text and headline graphics are shifted massively to the left. I can't read the first inch or so of text.

If I switch to Live View mode, it shows everything perfectly.

Not sure if you need to see the page in question or not but here's a link to it (with a placeholder text insider of the headline graphic):

PROBLEM FIXED

I'm supposed to go live with the site in a few days so I'd like to get this problem fixed without having to change the webpage layout to something completely different.

Much thanks in advance,

Mike

I've noticed that Dreamweaver's perview function doesn't work well all the time...
if it works well in Firefox and IE, then what are you worrying about ?

Try writing a salesletter on it when you can't read the first 1-2" of text on the left side of the screen. It's an exercise in frustration.

I've worked with thousands of webpages and this is the first one to ever act this way for me.

  • But if it's viewing fine in IE & FF, who cares? DW preview doesn't always work well which is why it has the "preview in browser" option.

Man I have to say though, that template is a tad ugly and rough on the eyes.

The graphic header is a placeholder until my graphic designer gets the final version completed next week.

      Why does it matter?

Well, I have to write a live salesletter on it next week and my attendees will want to use templates from the same template package for their own businesses. If any of them are using Dreamweaver then they will *probably* have the same issue.

Can someone PLEASE answer my original question on why it's shifting to the left in the Design View of Dreamweaver? If you don't know, then please stay out of this thread. I really only want suggestions and help aimed at fixing the problem, not picking on my choice of web templates or my choice wanting something to work correctly in Dreamweaver CS4.

After all, you wouldn't want me to start critiquing your website's sales copy and everything that is wrong with it in this public forum, would you?

      Thanks!

      Mike

    Hi Mike,

Go to the code view. Just add one </div> above the </body> tag in your template.html . It may solve your problem. Let me know the result

    Mike,
Dreamweaver just does this I have the same problem. I can only suggest is having a testing sever that you can use to check your work.
