WordPress page frustration

WEB DESIGN

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this...but its the most relevant I could see...so apologies if incorrect. I am just trying to add a "pull down menu" or "navigation menu" option to my WP pages...so basically if I have a page called "About" and a visitor hovers over it, a pull down type menu is shown where "sub-pages" or categories within that page are shown. I can add sub-pages with my current WP theme, but these are not shown in a menu type format...just added to the sidebar. How can I add this navigation menu to my WP pages? Is this a theme related thing...or what?

You will need a theme that supports the navigation method you are trying to achieve. Perhaps you could do it with a plugin as well.

I've used WooThemes for commercial projects and several of their themes have this. Some are free and most are paid. Check my site if you want to see a few of their themes.

  If you don't mind getting hands on with your code, you could create a div inside of your page.php (or whatever file houses your .php file for single pages in WordPress) for where you would like the drop down menu to appear and then use the following:
  
  <?php wp_dropdown_pages(); ?>
  
  It is possible and you don't need to purchase a new theme to do it.

  @blogginvixen - great suggestion. Not sure if the OP could handle this, but its good to know for template designers. Of course, you would still need to style the child li elements with css, which, for a designer would be simple, but not so much for others.

You need a theme which has built-in code for drop-down function or an external plugin,
have a look at plugins in this category:

Also another tutorial maybe you like it to do yourself instead of Plugin:
