Basic Wordpress question

Hi Guys,

I'm still learning the basics, so bare with me.

My question is how do I make my webpage address look like
' www.hello.com/signups ' in Wordpress instead of
' www.hello.com/?p=333'

I want to be able to publish the sign-up URL on various forums but don't want the ugly looking URL.Would this be a custom permalink?

Also what does this error message mean?

' rse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/getricky/public_html/mysite.com/wp-content/themes/killerlight/sidebar.php on line 66 '

Thanks in advance

The pretty looking URL's is the "permalinks" feature. You'll find that item in the left hand menu. Just turn it on and your pages will be able to have normal names.

The error message means there is something wrong in your sidebar.php file of the template you are using. If you haven't touched it, then it must be a bug in the template design. It's probably something that would take 5 minutes to fix for a person who knows PHP.

    Hi otherwhirl
Go to the admin section of your WP and towards the bottom of your dash board in settings click on permalinks.

When the page opens up click on day and name.

The click on custom and you will see a whole long string. Clear everything but this. make sure this is all the is left.

    /%postname%/

This will then give you tne correct page name and not a lot of numbers,
