Hey guys! I made a thread on this already (sorry) but it didn't help too much. I have a website with a "contact us" page that I need to configure to work properly.
This is the link so you can see what that looks like: Contact Us

I use filezilla to upload to my hosting account which is hostgator, and the web editor that I use is KompoZer.

Also, I would like to implement a captcha, but I would like the captcha to appear after they hit 'send'..then enter the captcha, if that is possible.

Please, I forewarn you...I need "Web editing for dummies' here, haha....so please be specific and simple when you explain this to me on how to do it. Give me 'steps' if at all possible, that would help out SO SO much!

Thanks alottalot in advance! I've been all over the place (forums/chats/links)...and this I still haven't cracked this yet, I know its possible....I just need some well valued knowledge here.

Thanks again!!

I have to give you credit for continuing to stick with this You may want to change directions and look at wordpress for your site building as it has a much lighter learning curve than html.

Wordpress has built-in function and plug-ins available to handle most of the problems you post questions about.

    Just my 2 cents
but maybe checkout wordpress.org or do a forum search on wordpress to see that lots of other marketers have made the switch and find it a lot less troublesome.

    Hi,

Yeah I agree with the recommendation for Wordpress. Everything you want to do can be done simply with plug-ins for wordpress. So instead of having to learn to code you simply have to search for the riight plugin, upload it and activate it.

It really is simple to use and highly recommended. They have numerous free contact form options with captcha etc.

    Cheers

Thanks for your suggestions on Wordpress guys, what I was planning on doing though was having this website (the one I am trying to piece together) and then also have a wordpress blog for it as well, which I am going to put together next. Then my blog posts can all point to my website, which technically I'm using as a sales webpage kind've thing for this affiliate product I'm promoting. So...I kinda still need suggestions on how to put this together, if anyone knows how to who can offer me some pointers. If not I'm willing to possible outsource this one page for a 'cheapish' price if I can, if I can't figure this out on my own first. So, please let me know - thanks!

The reason your form doesn't work is because it isn't attached to a form script. Do you have access to cPanel? If so, you will find a pre-installed script called "CGI email" in the CGI Center. Clicking on the link will give you access to a detailed online user guide that will tell you step-by-step exactly how to setup and code your page.

The specifics of setting up a form are too lengthy to include in this post, but I suggest that you give it a go with the provided user guide and ask for additional help here in the forum if you need it. You can also PM me if you like, I'm happy to help.

Another option is to use something like salesforce.com to handle the processing of your contact us forms. They will handle the form submission via their Web2Lead process and let you manage the lead from there in their CRM.

Another time-saving resource (if you decide to go the cgi route) is to use one of the free online form generators to create your html. You will still need to modify the form settings to go with your script.

Here's a good generator: pForm - Free HTML Form Builder - Create Web Form Template Online

    Hi,

Wordpress doesnt have to just be a blog. And you can set up 2 if you want. Set up the first as the website you need and then have a second as a blog. If you are new to web design as a whole then taking the time to learn wordpress will be worth your while.

I'd say as an example its like going to a DIY shop to build a bookshelf. HTML is like going and buying wood, nails, a hammer, a sander, paint, screws etc, all individually. You can create a great site if needed but you really need to know how to use everything to put something decent together.

Whilst Wordpress is like going to Ikea and buying a flatpacked bookshelf that you can put up in half an hour. Its easy as long as you can follow basic instructions. And in many cases you can bumble through it without reading the instructions and still get the finished product as you like it. I would highly recommend you buy Wordpress for dummies - check it here.

I know many people hate the dummies series but that's how I started with wordpress.... and it saved me a lot of time. I definately recommend it.

Spend two hours reading a good Wordpress book and everything you are trying to do will be simple for you.

    Cheers

You (and the others) are correct in recommending WP for its ease of use and flexibility, but she repeatedly emphasized that she would like to go the HTML route. After visiting her link, I found that the entire site is complete except for the coding on the form. To redo her design as a WP template would consume more time than creating a simple form.

Her problem is commonly found with HTML templates. It takes a little know-how to make the form functional. But done once, she will understand the process and it will be much easier to do it again if she ever needs to.

I explained in your original thread about the need for finding a .php form that comes with the template that is linked to your contact page.

Did you ever find that php form. Your contact form will need a php form to run it.
    Was there no form there?

If you let us know maybe we can help further.

Someone has already mentioned a cPanel form. DirectAdmin also has a really good one. Simple install, with a little copy and paste.

Depends what control panel you use. Just check with your host.

Since most of them allow installing forums and blogs with a few clicks, I would be really surprised if they couldn't do the same with a contact form. It's not exactly a rare, exotic requirement for a web site. I am thinking of moving up to a help desk but DA has good free simple versions of those too.

The first contact form I put in a site just came from a google search. You just paste the code in your page and fill in the email you want it to go to. (If I remember right)

What control panel are you using? Some one familiar with it can probably give you the name of the script and just where it is on the installer.

    Learning all the time....

    best wishes, lloyd

Edit: Sorry I missed the part about you being on cP and the captcha requirements. Will just leave this in, in case any of the info helps anyone.
