How much should I charge for this website?

My client wants a website to showcase his photographs.

My expenses will be:
$199 - Premium Wordpress gallery theme
$10 - Domain

I will provide him with a decent looking website featuring his 350 pictures plus domain & hosting for one year. I might also upload a video about his website to Youtube and get it on the first search results page for one or more relevant keywords.

I thought about charging him $1200 for this project (He told me he had paid 16,000 USD for his business website which did involve much more work than the website I'm going to do for him).

Please advice...

I think your price is right no for Wordpress gallery & Domain.. I'd charge more for the SEO/ Video (I can understand youtube for bandwith reasons.. if it's unlimited hosting why not embed?) I'd say 300-400 is the right ballpark (and still in the cheap seates) for everything you described

don't' forget you are valuable and so is your time.. don't cheap out just because you think they'll balk at the price.. you have a good skill (being able to do a web page) and you should charge for it.. (figure at least $20 an hour at the low end)

One question to ask is are the pictures all ready to go or will you need to resize rename etc as that can take time

i read a forum post about this and they were saying the cheaper you charge the more hassle from the client, they will expect more.

so charge a decent price, it think perhaps like others have said work out the hours and take it from there

be very definte about what they get for the price ie it's the website with photos etc, and some minor changes (define this) then agree a price for any other changes

you don't want to do the site then they say nah, don't really like it i want it changed

the key is to manage the expections of client and don't undersell yourself!

I don't you recommend to charge as much as he/she can...
    But don't undersell yourself!

Yes, I'd also just suggest working out exactly how long it will take you to do the whole job, and then work out what its worth per hour for you to do the job. A new web designer might charge from $40 per hour, but if you are really good and have experience $80 upwards might be more appropriate.

Dont under charge. In the long run its better for you and better for them that they value what you do
