I just looked at your site. You have a lot of feedback from consumers on your site, which is great. The type was very small and hard to read, about half the size of the type in the Adsense ads. Also, the Roman type is harder to read than Verdana or Arial. The difficulty of reading was what made the biggest impact on me when was trying to read about the site and the products. You might want to include an "About Us" page to make a closer connection to your visitors. You have the potential to get repeat visitors, since people are always looking for user comments on products. Good luck with your site! Dee Ross

Good start. You have obviously spent a lot of time on this. And great idea for website.

The color selection just doesn't work. The blue and off-white background is more business related. Can you choose a look with warmer tones?

The navigation tabs aren't obvious. I had to move my mouse to hover over the links to see drop down boxes... need to make navigation very clear. No mystery meat navigation!

Get rid of the horizontal grey lines separating your catagory boxes. You need more white space and a cleaner look.

Get rid of the iThemes and Wordpress info on the lower right.

The "Know Before You Buy" content is too much. All the same font and size. If this explains what this website is, you need to make it easy to read, and easy to understand. Use headline, larger fonts, line breaks, and white space.

    Google Adsense
Good job NOT putting Adsense on the home page!

To increase click through rates, recommend you blend in the Adsense blocks with your website content, by making the Adsense blocks look like website content. How? Use the same font color and hyperlink colors in your Adsense blocks that you use in your text of your website.

It looks like you are only using two Adsense blocks. You can use three on each page. Follow the Adsense TOS. But try putting a horizontal Adlink just below or above your horizontal navigation. And think about putting an Adsense block in between product displays. Again, blend in your adds to not look like ads but be part of the overall content of your website.

Also, if you are going for Adsense revenue, think about an Adsense search box instead of the default Wordpress search box...

Test and track to see what really works.

    Great start!

    Mike D.

    Hello,

Your site looks great with lots of info I agree regarding the type being very small and hard to read. You would also do well by adding an optin box to build a list for relationship building. You may also want to syndicate your site (have your site sent to different social media sites where they leave comments) this is a great way to build backlinks.

It took me a minute to figure out exactly what I'm supposed to do there.

Know before you buy is a weak strap line - try to create something that adds instant value for the customer.

I can guess from the URL what the site should do but it's not clear what the visitor need to do.

There is only 1 "call-to-action" which is a tiny search box hidden away on the right.

If I were to build this site, I'd set it up like Domainr (I can't post links yet) but change the search field to look for consumer goods instead of domain names. In fact, that would be pretty awesome, although Froogle (or whatever it is now) probably does that already.

Then once the user is inside the content pages, then monetise using whatever means you have planned.

I'd also run some sort of launch contest where visitors can win something like vouchers in exchange for their email address. You need to build a list.

You need to really think big because there are massive sites out there that you're competing against. (Maybe you could focus on a specific market segment - the smaller the more potent).

I like it, i like it a lot
        good job on your part.

I would suggest one thing, i want you to put something catchy in the front of the site.
Something that will grab the visitors attention and a little bit of information.

        Thanks

I like your site. What did you use to build it? A couple things you could improve on
1 its not clear where to click to purchase the product
2 finding peoples reviews was a little tricky
3 i did click on a few of the links most of them were fine but of the 3 i clicked on 1 item was
no where to be found on the amazon listing i beleive it was the ducane gas grill not sure which one

but overall i like your site

Great site! Don't stop there - just keep working on it and it will certainly result into a much greater site!

    few feedbacks -
    1) your URL suggests an affiliation with consumerreports dot com. Visitors may arrive and expect the same quality of information - if they don't find it the same, they may leave. To combat that, introduce something that is unique and not found in the other site. Maybe add a contest for the top reviewer on any product.
    2) the theme looks a bit fragmented in the middle. It needs to look solid and consistent all over.
    3) remove theme information from the footer
    4) enlarge the search form and move it into the right part of the header. make it an adsense search since this is the right time and place for people to search for products.
    5) remove the adsense sidebar - it is not working there as it should. add the adlinks between the posts or products / the top of products.
    6) at where the adsense sidebar - add the related products boxes there

    good luck with your site!

      1) Too many font styles. Get down to 1 or 2 styles.
      2) Disjointed theme. When I go a 2nd page, seems like the mid bg changes a bit.
      3) What's the main action you want for the user? "Read these reviews", etc ?

      Good luck with the site.

Your website looks interesting and good. But in my view you can add to the existing categories to make it more visitor-friendly and allows your website influence to consumer

Yep, I agree. I kinda got to get all 'squinty' to see everything. My daughter can't read it without me doing a Command + a few times on the MAC.
