Hi there

I am a model and have designed and created my own website. I have come to a hurdle in terms of which membership software to use as my site has a members pay section.

I want my members to have the option to pay a one of monthly fee or to have recurring billing at a cheaper price.

My hosting have recommended I use Processing Point for dealing with my credit cards and so want something compatable with that.

Can anybody offer any advice or recommendations?

many thanks

Angelina

    Hi,

If you search this forum, there are lots of posts regarding the best membership software, scripts etc.

Here's one - Can You Build A Membership Site

Also before you get set with using Process Point for payments you should take a look at the many good online services that can take your credit card payments for you.

Process point is a merchant account service which means you will also need a bank to accept the payments and a gateway system to link them all together. This can be a costly and time consuming process. Your host probably recommends then because they get a big kickback - not because they are the best solution.

Most membership site software already have systems in place to link to online processors such as Paypal, Google, Authorize.net, Kagi, Plimus.com, Fastspring, iPortis etc. And most of these processing companies dont charge anything until you make a sale.

So my advice, find a good membership script/software and then look to see what payment service they will link to. Doing it that way you could get something set up pretty quickly.

    Cheers

    Hey cupoftea,

When it comes to your membership site there are many options. What software are you using to manage your membership site? If you're using a standalone script then they will have suggestions as to who you should use.

It should not really matter to your hosting company though.

So definitely talk to your membership software people if you have some and use whatever payment processors integrate with their software.

We run ExtremeMember.com which is all-in-one solution (has all the site, payment processing, content protection etc. all in one place). That way it makes this stuff very easy. Simple as signing up for an account and then getting a free paypal account and you're away!

    Hope that helps some.

      Hey Angelina,

I opted to use Nanacast. It works with wordpress, many payment processing platforms, has a great affiliate program, and ties into several physical product shippers also (vervante, disk.com, and kunaki).

Best part...no scripts to deal with for us non-techies.

Change 3 or 4 items in the wordpress plugin inside of your dashboard...add the passcode in your nanacast account and Bam.

Senderbot also provided some good ideas to bear in mind.

Another good option is a Multi Tool Platform called FusionHQ.

Merchants can really be a pain and end up having to sign long term contracts etc. I'd recommend using something like Paypal - plus it will make your choice much easier.

Fusion HQ allows you to create membership sites, mini content and sales processes using drag and drop technology - no coding required.

Integrates with popular payment gateways and autoresponders. Also has an integrated affiliate program.

The benefits of using Fusion HQ for your membership site is:
        • Unique username and password for each person. Only one person can login at the same time - so people will not share their login details.
        • You can drip feed content - so people don't download everything then cancel.
        • You can use it to set up the payment options you want without manually recoding paypal buttons. Plus easily add in upsells and downsells - all without coding.
        • You can manage members, resend passwords and lock them out of the membership if they cancel.
        • You can create do all this using the Free Fusion HQ account

Hope this helps and good luck!

The biggest thing you need to look for is protected downloads. After someone pays you, do they have a way of creating their own membership account, where they log in with their own unique username and password, that no one else in the membership site has? If the answer is no, then you do not have a membership site. Definitely look for some download protection. And in fact, most modern membership software also has sharing protection. If somebody is passing around their username and password, the system will notice that they are all logging in from the same IP address and will shut off their account for sharing.
