Hi,

For my new company I have outsourced the creation of a total
new website design.

It looks quite good to me, except those 3 images in the header.
Somehow that doesn't look professional enough to me.

It would be really nice if you guys could give your opinion on this template:
Untitled Document

All tips are welcome!

Thanks,
Dennis

Not bad at all. I agree, those images must go. Do something more creative there instead and check your spacing in your <h1> tags, it seems like your letters a running real close together.

And last thing (maybe just me) but the light grey font on the white is a little hard on my eyes..

But overall its a good looking site.

I have asked the designer 3 times already to be a little creative with those images, but somehow they think this is creative already.
It's a good firm if you tell them exactly what you want.
The text and color text is of course an example because the template will be converted into a Wordpress theme.

Your images on the whole site, not just in the header area are not clear enough in my opinion, I think that you could have much clearer images added to your sire.

One issue I see with your site is that it has a scroll bar on the bottom of the page, which to many people does not not appear to be very professional, it would be much better to have the width of the page not produce a scroll bar on the bottom.

      Hi,

What you see is just a .jpg image. So maybe that's the reason why you're seeing a scroll bar.
The images, other then the header images are just there as an example.
The menu items are titled "lorem ipsum" which states for "example text"
I only need some help with the header images so the website looks better.

      Any tips perhaps?

      Thanks,

It might help to know what the site is going to be about, that way I can come up with an idea regarding the images that can match the theme or subject of the website.

I think the subject matter of the images is OK. Google is completely appropriate. The middle image might be better... maybe part of a screen shot that so many people like to use showing all the money being deposited into a bank account. Maybe I'm dense, but what ICT means isn't registering for me. On the other hand, I like how the ethernet cable runs off the page. The images themselves could be processed better. The first two are over-sharpened, I think, and the last one is fuzzy. They would probably look better if they were blended together instead of separated. That said, a whole new header image wouldn't hurt, either.

I agree with the comment about your H1 text running together, but it's not just that size. All of your title text does the same, as well as the text below your links at the bottom; Calendary, Web, etc.

Last comment: "Who We Are?" should be written "Who Are We?" if it is going to be used as a question. If it is intended as a statement, lose the '?'.

The website will introduce local businesses to Webmarketing and the possibilities.
Further they will read about my IT consultancy services. ICT means IT in Dutch btw.
Most people know they want to have AD's in Google, so that's why I have choosen to display an image of Google and Google Analytics.

The other text / images in the design are just fake and will be replaced.
So I really need to have a great header image(s) idea.

    Thanks,

I question your focus more than your design, the website seems to be about you not your customer.

If you want to sell then focus it on your customer and their needs not on you.

    Who is your customer?
    What are their needs?
Why they should do business with you?

The more closely your website delivers a message that matches what the customer has in their head the more money you will make

Its possible to give you more accurate feedback once we know what you are trying to achieve.

It's quite difficult to think of good images, that's why I posted this thread.
Most businesses who contact me would like to rank high in Google or want to have AD's in Google. So that's why I have chosen those images.
But in my opinion those images are not presented very well, and it makes the design look awful.

So what I'm looking for is a way to present those images (or other ones) nicely in the header.

Well the spacing issues around the site definitely contribute a lot to the unprofessional look. Once it's coded and actually on a site with the proper text and image spacing, I think it will look a little better.

I also think you need to incorporate a 3rd color. Something you can use as a "highlight" for important stuff around. Right now it looks rather bland, and a little depressing with all that blue.

Another important thing, regardless of what images you go with, is to get them a little higher quality. Mainly the two on the left, are all jagged and aliased.

As for picking pictures, I would just have them put a ton of different images there and just see which ones look good. It's very difficult to just come up with an idea that will look good, you have to see it before you know. I also think it depends more on the color and angle than what the picture is of, as long as it relates to your business.

    Thanks for your reply.
I'm sorry, but what do you mean with the "spacing issue around the site" and "image spacing"

    Thanks again,

Well, as someone pointed out earlier, the text is somewhat squished together, which will be solved when it is actually coded to a site. Also, if you look at the 3 images at the top, the 2 on the left are closer together than the 3rd and I'm not sure the group is well centered.

I just realized that might be intentional though, as the two images belong to the one header while the 3rd image has its own header. I don't know if I like the effect though, of the uneven spacing.

Honestly, I'd do some sort of collage with the images across the entire top instead of three separate images. Kind of mix all the images together. If you must have the three separate images, I'd recommend making them wider and spacing them out better. You could also add borders to them. I too like the cable coming out of the side, but it definitely needs to be cleaned up a bit.

Looks Nice! i like the idea of using that cable in the header ,And also the logo.
May be you could use the icons with same effect for calenders and all [as that of fecebook, twitter icons placed in the right side].
      Hope this helps!

    Good looking, clean site.
Some nice touches - the logo popping out of the top and the cable creeping in from the side.

If your audience/clients are exclusively corporate, the tried and true finanical blue works very well. But, I'd consider adding some colour (as luminousnerd suggested) if the intended audience are small businesses.

Antoher suggestion is an email capture box, the best way to keep in touch with potential clients.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

Thank you all for your comments.
The actual content for this site will of course be different to what you see right now.
The image you're looking at will be converted to a wordpress theme.
I'm thinking about adding an orange color to the current color scheme.

But I'm really having trouble with how to present the 3 images in the header.

    -Just delete them?
-Present them in an other way
    -Other images?

I only have one time to convince a potential visitor to do business with me.
So it just has to look great...
I can't afford to launch this site when it's not ready.

So any design suggestions are more then welcome...

    Cheers!

    Right,

If the images were more quality made , it would take the site to a different level.
Also I would suggest putting some fading top background that blends in with the color of the background.
