It doesn't matter where the actual hosting is. Most hosting is US based on shared servers. I would recommend Just Host. Local call numbers in the UK and they do provide an excellent service with exceptional support. You can buy a totally unlimited package for £110 ($165) for 3 years. As well as being an Internet Marketer I also have 2 web design companies and all my sites and client sites are hosted on Just Host.

    Hope this helps,
    Mark

1and1 would be my recommendation if you want a VPS server. Their servers are reliable, and their prices darn hard to beat.

That being said, their UI for managing domains/server credentials is horrible.

lots of great info here - just what I was looking for too!
I use 1and1 in the UK and they have a great support team, though don't necessarily think they are the cheapest.
Can I throw in another question here?
If I want to market in the US, does it still not matter where the domain/hosting is purchased from and is it better to buy domain/hosting from same company?

If you are marketing to the US only then it would make sense to have your hosting in the US... but if you live in the UK, I'm pretty sure that there are tax implications involved with this (maybe others will know the detail).

As far as buying domains I tend to buy them all over the world... it just depends on the extension and who is giving me the best deal. But normally I do tend to move domains back to a central provider as this just makes sense from a management point of view.

1&1.co.uk is hosted in Germany :-o lol. btw 1&1, Uk2, fasthost, 123-reg Is not good, tried them all.

I think you need to look for one with free support which is always available, increase something goes wrong/ maybe even prank call them couple of times :-p.

      AGREED!!!

Plus, if you are a company and your hosting is overseas and your hosting company folds or your hosting fails, where do you stand insurance wise? Would you be covered? If you weren't would you have the funds to go to where your host is located to challenge them in court?

I have a client that is using a US based dedicated server for their very successful website. They are using it because it is half the price of a UK based dedicated server. However, there have been numerous problems such as unexplained downtime, tinkering with code settings so the site becomes invisible, time zone delays etc etc.

      Cheapest is not always best.

crdsolutions.co.uk is a good one I use it to setup websites for my clients. Please help me out and Mention my name "Brad" in the notes when setting up a domain hosting plan on this site. I do not own it but I do get an affiliate kickback.
