Problem with switching from wordpress to html site

Hello,

I have recently switched from using wordpress for my squeeze page to using an html template.

The problem is that when i used wordpress i was using a plugin called prettylink.

I used this plugin to cloak my hoplink, what it does it create a page / extension so that when you hover over the link you see www.mysite.com/page instead of xcad423hoplinkxd53

Now to drive traffic to my site i mainly use videos and the link on those vids at the moment is www.mysite.com/page

Now because i no longer use wordpress www.mysite.com/page no longer exists and because of this my sales have plummeted over the last few days.

I have created a page called page and uploaded it to the directory of my site (where it reads page.html)

now if i go to www.mysite.com/page i get a message that says 500 internal server error

but if i go to www.mysite.com/page.html it takes me to my site

what i want to know is how do i make it so that www.mysite.com/page goes to the right place

Thank you.

p.s the above urls are highlighted, dont click them they are not my sites just examples

    Try this.
    To solve the www.mysite.com/page issue:
Create a directory named page .Put an index.html file into it .Copy contents you had in www.mysite.com/page this location to index.html which resides in page directory.
Now access www.mysite.com/page .This should work fine.

    To solve cloacking issue:
Instead of linking directly to the clickbank link , create a php file to redirect users to clickbank page.
And you now link to this php page in your website.

PM me if you need any help.

Huh, I was gonna suggest creating a rewrite rule in your .htaccess file to handle the URL change, but what vinug suggested is much simpler. Interesting how us technical folk get wrapped up in the tech rather than simply solving the problem at times.

Hi there. Don't know if this helps, but the two are totally different.

Wordpress is .php and some other sites like the one you said you were building
      is .htm or .html.

When I use Dreamweaver, I can't see a design mode of .php, unless I view it in an external browser of my choice.

When I work with .htm or .html, I can see what the page looks like without having to view it in an external browser.

Anyway, I need help with setting up a Wordpress blog. I have a few common beautiful themes.

I have all my plugins and all that s--t, but for the last 2 monthes I have not uploaded because I can't get the side bar configuration, figured out.

I'm ready to just -------- quit.

Any Wordpress pros out there, give me a call at trevorup2 at hotmail.com , or
      trevor at trevorup.com please.

Thanks, I really need to get these sites online.
