I've used many of the premium WordPress themes out there and my own favorites right now are:

Genesis from StudioPress: Genesis Theme Framework by StudioPress
Headway: Headway Premium WordPress Theme

I know there are folks that are passionately in favor of Thesis, but having worked with it, I'd chose either of these two over it. Just my opinion.

I've bought a bunch from ThemeForest, and the prices are around $15 - $35 per theme which is pretty reasonable.

My only complaint is that they don't do any refunds, so if you buy a theme and can't customize it or it wasn't what you were looking for you are out of luck, so choose your theme carefully and go for ones with high ratings and frequent updates from the publisher.

In my opinion it is atahualpa from bytesforall.com and you can find it in the "featured" themes on wordpress.org. Speaking for myself, I do not have a lot of time to fiddle with design and atahualpa is everything that thesis is but free.

This biggest problem with wordpress themes is if you do not understand how to make a child theme then your site could be doomed with an update of that theme. Atahualpa saves all theme modifications seperate from the core theme files like a child theme does making upgrading painless and you do not have to deal with the learning curve of creating child themes.

I'm also going to chime in for the Studio Press Genesis theme framework. It's an absolutely stellar product, and while it does take a little getting used to at first, it's well worth the small bit of extra effort. (If you do happen to end up choosing it, i highly recommend you also install the free plugin to go with it called "simple hooks" to help you customize your theme).

I vote for the Socrates theme too. I have all my Wordpress sites on it and I'm very happy with the way they look. And I think my visitors see that my sites look professional and easy to navigate.

I have also been doing web designing for clients and have been recommending they use the Socrates theme for their sites. So far all my clients have liked the theme.

Also I might add that support has been very good anytime I have a question or I'm trying to figure out how to do something. You can jump on the Socrates forum and find your answer quickly or contact the Admin.

I would recommend paying the $77.00 to get the unlimited site license instead of just the single site. But again it depends on your needs. I'm about to get a developer's license since it seems to be working well for my clients.

I think there is a lot of different themes you can use for affiliate marketing. I never make a big deal when I choosing wordpress theme for my website. What is important to me is simple and clean design. You don't have to buy expensive themes.

There is a lot of great themes available for free. Don't spend to much time looking for perfect theme. Just use google and you will find perfect great theme for your website in minutes. It is always better to spend time adding great content and good affiliate offers to your website. Most of the website visitors don't care about your website theme. What they are looking is good informative content. Of course, it is good if you own site with good design, but you should never overcomplicate it searching for perfect design.

Get the U-Design Wordpress Theme, it works like a charm! It can be tweaked the way you want it to be and best of all most of the Wordpress theme are so complicated but with the U-Design Wordpress Theme it is the most easiest to configure and not to mention it is SEO friendly!

Choosing the wordpress theme really comes down to what you are planning to do with your site.

Do you want it lightning fast?

Responsive?

Willing to sacrifice design for performance or viceversa?

How is it going to be monetized?

Will it have a membership integrated?

Is it made strictly for squeeze pages?

There are many themes out there, I'm familiar with Thesis, Genesis, WooThemes, Elegant Themes, Headway Themes and even a bunch of Theme Forest Themes but it all comes down to one thing...

What you are planning to do with your site?

Every theme has pros and cons and we also have to consider the user's knowledge so it's practically impossible to recommend one unique solution.

there are tons of themes available on themeforest and theme elegant and i found this article most recently related to the top WordPress theme with highly customization feature etc. and found it really useful i personally choose betheme and jupiter theme.
