WYSIWYG Wordpress Editor??

Is there a decent WYSIWYG Wordpress editor for creating a website? Apparently wordpress is the favorite tool to use for creating sites, especially for marketing. But there has to be an easier way to edit the templates and change graphics than looking through all the code.

    Nope, there really isn't. The closest you're going to get to a WYSIWYG is using Firefox and Firebug to make live changes in your browser, then copying the new CSS/HTML into your theme files.

    My best advice is to learn some basic HTML and CSS, create a few web pages yourself without using WordPress to get the feel of how things like the Box Model, some basic CSS styling skills go a LONG way. The more you do it the better you'll get and before you know it you'll be able to make any number of small tweaks and fixes.

      Aww man, that sucks. lol Yet another thing to learn. Ha, I suppose when people say, "anyone can make money online" they're full of it. I used Yahoo Site Builder in the past when building sites with good results. They looked good and functioned well, they were a bit slow on loading though.

      I suppose I really need to learn how to use WordPress due to the number of plugin tools used for IM. Is it safe to say, it may be more difficult to learn how to use WordPress than a GUI program, but they pay off in the long run is well worth the growing pains now?

        Not so! But like everything in life, 1) there's no free lunch and a cost for everything. 2) you always have two choices to get something, 2a) You do it yourself, and/or (if necessary) learn to do it, and 2b) You pay a pro to do it for you.

        It's as simple as that!

        Hold on one minute, think about this before you start making rash decisions. Are you interested in marketing or design? The two fields are related, but they've got opposing ideologies. It's very time consuming to bridge that gap. Because each side is morally opposed to one another on key issues like conversions, opt-ins, etc. Like Windows and Apple fanboys/girls they don't mix.

        Since this isn't a hobby, it's a job, your time has a monetary value. When you learn something on your own you're just subsidizing cost with time wasted, so choose a field and be strict about it. If you're strapped for cash ignore IM and chose web design or McDonalds. Because with limited cash you're just gambling your money, and if you fail you've got nothing to fall back on.

        Internet Marketing is a passive form of investment. In other words, you've got to spend money to make money, and you've got to wait a really long time to make money. Because if something costs you a hundred-dollars to make $1/day you wont profit for about 114days. Go for walk or something to clear your head before you double down on this bet.

      Moreover, you need to learn PHP!

      Wordpress is based on PHP and not only HTML/CSS, you need to know PHP to modify and build themes.

    Yes. You shouldn't have to touch or edit ANYTHING IN THE CODE. Simply look for the "theme" or how you want it to look, change the text/add a couple images and presto! you have a wordpress website setup. And just fyi, Wordpress is a CMS (Content Management System), not a WYSIWYG editor.

    If you don't mind spending a small bit of money, there actually is a pretty decent solution that sounds like what you might be looking for. Check out the Genesis Theme and Prose Child Theme from Studiopress: Prose Child Theme by StudioPress .

    It allows you to edit nearly every aspect of your theme design using point a point and click interface... (The demo page of the theme is only the bare bones framework... in the admin you are able to point and click to select individual color elements throughout your theme as well as uploading your header image, specifying the desired header dimensions, uploading your background image etc).

    Worth taking a look at anyway.

    I'm not sure I totally understand what you're after, but I discovered Headway Themes a while ago and it looks pretty good.

    Headway Premium WordPress Theme <- NOT an affiliate link, just FYI

    I haven't used it personally, but it's basically drag and drop and and it has some unique features. I'm thinking of grabbing it to play around with. The videos make it look incredibly easy.

    Might be worth checking out.

    Artisteer is the closest thing you're going to get. It's a custom theme building program, that's all WYSIWYG, but it doesn't offer a lot of customizations. It does require an investment. It may or may not work for want you want, but last I checked, the student edition was around $50.
