Can any warrior please tell me how and where to insert the Google analytics and the Google webmasters tools codes? Which code goes into the header php and which one into the r_sidebar php? Your help is much appreciated.

The analytics code usually goes just before the </body> tag and any meta tags go between the <head> and </head> tags.

Thanks Amsterdam. Does the analytics code go into the header php or the r_sidebar php in WP Editor? Appreciate your help.

I would put it in the footer.php immediately before </body>

If your template doesn't use footer.php then look for the file that contains </body>

    Hope this helps,

If you're using WordPress, there's an excellent plugin called Ultimate Google Analytics. Just enter your unique analytics account number (UA-XX-XXXXXX) and it loads the code with the wp_footer() function call and puts it in the right place for you. You can also control whether it will appear on pages if you're logged in, or if you have other users who log in. That will keep you from seeing your own traffic.

        Very handy.

Wow - it's not that difficult. Do some research before going to the forum as your first option. You'll find that with research, you can actually contribute when you find answers on your own. And you do not have to rely on every stinkin' plugin available (don't become so lazy). No apologies, but honest, I just looked up your keyword to your question on Google and came out with some helpful results. Any senior member will tell you to exhaust ALL resources before looking for easy answers here. No offense intended at all. Type in Google search: "where to insert Google analytics" or "where to insert Google analytics wordpress"

Unless you're using the asynchronous (latest) version of Analytics:
