pls help with Wordpress LinkExchange setup

I have been furiously working trying to get SEO improvement in my Computer Repairs website. One of the strategies I want to use is Link Exchange. The Site is wordpress format, and I want to set it up so that the embedded links are as least obtrusive as possible. Obviously I want traffic that comes to my site staying there and not being diverted off by lots of outbound links. Ive seen quite a few addons for Wordpress, but before embarking on setting up a stack of related links, wanted to ask opinions from others with experience doing this.

What is the best way to approach this process given the concerns I have about site-mess and click-away?

    If that's the case.... I don't understand why are you even considering using a link exchange as "seo improvement"?
