Hi all,

I have a small task to do of just installing a wordpress theme and its a freebie for a friend which I said I would do until I realised I was working on her 1 and 1 host. Can anyone help please?

I'm aware of how to do the 5 minute install and I've set up a mysql data base but I'll be jiggered if I can actually upload via ftp.

What am I missing?

I find their interface confusing.

I'm assuming her domain would be her domain >
her username would be the username for her domain
> and password would be her password for that domain, right? In an normal ftp world

I cannot get a connection so I'm wondering what I've missed.

If anyone knows I'd be truely grateful. This was supposed to be 5 min job for a friend and it's turned out to be a little more than that. :rolleyes:What no live chat? I've email customer support - its sloooooooooow haha.

Thanks so much in advance.

V

    Do they offer a cPanel?

You can probably follow the instructions shown in the following links:

If you still can't get it done, feel free to PM me. I can probably help you out.

    Thanks...

If you're logging in via FTP and using firefox use her domain name, username, and password, and leave the port blank.

That should get you logged in. From there go to Public_html and FTP the files there!

If you have access to cpanel just use fantastico deluxe for 1 touch installs.

Thanks for the links IM Queen

There is no fantastico which is actually what I'm generally used to although I have in the past put up WP via FTP. It's not something I enjoy but hey ho.

Thanks for the gracious offer of help. I may indeed do that.

Will give it another go. :p

This is the strange thing here - it's asked me did I want to set up FTP on the actual website?

That completely confused me. I will take a look at this if I don't manage to follow IM Queen's links.

I appreciate you taking the time to comment and give advice. I have some alternative ways now which I didn't before I started this thread.

Well I'm not sure exactly what that means, however if you're wanting to setup wordpress on the site, you're going to need to FTP the site. So if I'm understanding that correctly I would say 'yes'.

By the way, I mean to say filezilla not firefox in the previous post. Sorry about that.

They had on their dashboard a 'set up FTP' -- but I wanted to use filezilla (if I had no choice but to upload).

Thanks for the correction - you would have had me sit there staring at firefox.

            It's all good.

            Thank you again.
