I guess any Gentry-based Joomla Theme would allow you to do that. I like what they do at rockettheme.com but I don't know where else they use the Gentry framework. You might look around a bit.

It is not custom built. It is Drupal. Yes it is possible with joomla, but you will be able to notice slight differences.

I'm curious. I had seen that site before and wondered. But how do you know it's Drupal? What's the giveaway? Drupal certainly doesn't show up per se on the source page...

Ah - I quickly looked at the code and it looked too clean to be a cms - but I've never worked with drupal. Thanks for the correction!

  Well, not all drupal sites are that clean! For a lower end client, it is easy for a developer to not have very clean code. They had some pretty good developers on that site, but they also probably had about a 20-30k budget.

Gantry isn't all that great, you can do this with no framework whatsoever. I have created over 50-60 drupal websites. I can instantly tell if a site is made in either Joomla, Drupal or Wordpress.

I just did a search, wsu.edu has publically admitted using drupal, in fact they are behind a lot of development with drupal, which i didn't know.

It looks like vancouver.wsu.edu is drupal based, but that doesn't mean every single site built on any subdomain of wsu.edu is built on drupal.

Also, I don't think the main site, Washington State University - Pullman, Washington is running Drupal - unless they've hidden all of Drupal's characteristic footprints (19 Nov 1978 expires date in the response headers, regular admin login url, CHANGELOG.txt file, and others). Wappalyzer plugin for firefox shows no identifiable CMS in place.

But under the vancouver subdomain it seems a majority of the sites there are running Drupal.

If what you mean by replica is "integrate the design into Joomla", then yes, of course you can incorporate the design of the site into Joomla or pretty much just about any platform for that matter. With things like the site's information architecture and various functionality, your mileage may vary depending on what CMS you use.

You can do a google search, it is definitely drupal. Drupal is the only CMS that I would be able to get something almost exact using that as the groundwork. You are right about some of those though, I didn't have time to go through however many subdomains they have, but I'm glad you have the time to do that.

Yes I can do a google search but I see no reason to believe that Washington State University - Pullman, Washington is built on drupal.

Actually I don't have time to go through all of their subdomains either (no wait, I actually do). But I can construct a simple google query to find some of them (try it and amaze yourself) and then use a tool such as Wappalyzer to easily find out that not all of those sites are running Drupal.

  How exactly can you tell what platform a site is built on, is there something specific that distinguishes them from each other?
  
  I can tell most WP sites, but not drupal/joomla/dreamweaver - how do you know? I ask because I have a site I've been asked to look at and its not WP, but I'm not sure what it is (or who to refer her to).

Problem is, most advanced developers don't use a blogging system as a complete website.

To give you an idea, wsu.edu, in order to have that changed over to wordpress without compromising functionality and the look, it would take about 4-5 months, and cost you about 40,000.

Pretty crazy huh? When you can basically create a clone of it in drupal, in about 2 weeks, because it is more complete, better coded and meant for full sites!

Wow, thanx for your support guys..I am making a similar site for my college.. What I need is that flash widget on home page and that sliding menu feature..I am planning to do it on Joomla..

@iAmNameLess, thanx for your help. Can u pls say which Joomla modules I can use to get that flash and sliding menu feature? Also considering the time factor, Is it better for me to switch to drupal or continue with joomla?

Either one is a good choice. It depends on what exactly you will be doing now, and in the future.

A very reasonable workaround for this in joomla, is to create a "showcase" position. Some rockettheme templates have it. But you can customize a little bit, to split it up in 3, like the wsu site. You can then disable body content and frontpage article as well as other modules that would otherwise display. You can create new modules in the certain showcase positions, so you would have a similar effect as the wsu site.
