Warriors,

I am in the process of writing an eBook about WordPress basics that I want to make free to Warrior members. Things like installation, setup, theme integration and design, SEO plugins, etc. The idea is create a quick and easy "how to" for WordPress beginners. I learned website design by trial and error...I'm hoping this ebook will make it easier for people to jump right into WP.

For those of you wordpress newbies, or even experienced users, what are some things you'd like to see included? Feedback would be appreciated.

    A few thoughts...

This is not the crowd around here that wants to read and learn - unless it starts with "how I made $23,872.43 in ten minutes and not working at all"

I'd definitely keep separate the setup and the design(?) part.
You can teach anybody in 15 minutes how to install/setup a WP blog. However, you need years to teach somebody to really design a WP theme. Even then some people just don't have the talent and taste to be a designer...

There are thousand of quick how-to guides, both written (print and ebook) plus videos... and who knows what other formats. Not to mention the Codex, the online WP manual, which has everything. Never seen a book or tutorial that said anything that wasn't already discusssed in the Codex.
Yet, you will alwasy have hundreds and hundreds of people asking basic questions in every forum.

    Anyway... good luck!

Broad generalizations made. Istvan Horvath, you have already helped me in another thread, so I have decided I like you.

I am developing my searching skills and found a helpful resource based on your comment. Bookmarked it.

I learn best in a setting of reading material combined with visuals.

Today I just learned that I could backdate a blog post simply because I hadn't tinkered around with the edit button until I needed to.

Now, off to search WF for a sticky of possible helpful resource pages . . . but that would be too easy, wouldn't it?

      I enjoy this forum!

Thanks for the input. I agree that the set up and design should be kept separate. I will definitely make the ebook available to warriors when the time comes.
