Forum advice??

Hi warriors im looking at adding a new forum onto a wordpress site of mine
First question is can this actually be done? very new to forum's themselves any advice here would be great.

    But do you really want a whole forum included into your wordpress website ? Or just a separate one ?

    If the 2-nd choice, then it is pretty easy to do it.

    There are specific forum plugins for Wordpress, such as simple press and bbpress. I've never used them so can't comment on how easy they are to set up. I'm sure there are people here who can let you know more about them.

    The other option is to use another free script such as Simple Machines Forum or PHPBB, and install them on your domain eg www.mydomain.com/forum. They can be installed using fantastico or softaculous, and it's very easy.That's the way I'm most familiar with.

    The advantage of these scropts is that there are so many themes available, as well as plugins that can increase security and enhance usability.

    It will be fairly easy for you to integrate it into wordpress, you will just need to have the right extensions. I wouldn't recommend tying it into the entire wordpress site though, I think you would typically want a forum by itself.
