Hi,

I am a total WP newbie, I just learned how to install wordpress... editing wp_config and whatnot.

Now that everything is up, i tried uploading a theme and this is the error i saw after i uploaded it.(it was in a zip folder..if thats any help)

"Unable to create directory /home/"mysusername"/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2011/03. Is its parent directory writable by the server?"

Can anyone help me out with this??

Thank you

cheers

    1. Using your FTP tool, navigate to your sites wp-content folder

    2. See if there is a folder called uploads, if not create it.

    3. Then set the permissions on the uploads folder to 777.

    This should fix the problems

'777' is a pretty insecure permissions setup - fabulous for testing and troubleshooting problems like you had, but you'll probably not want to leave it that way. You might want to tighten it up to '755'; for most server setups that is more than enough.

I have to agree with Steve. 777 is basically full permission, narrow it down to 755. Enough for all CMS systems outthere.

755 is recommend and hosts usually only allow you to do 755. 777 is too easily to be hacked and is a security threat.

      It's awesome in Vegas though.
