CForms / Contact form malfunctioning

Hi,

I'm setting up my contact form for my website right now. I'm using wordpress and a plugin called CForms. I've managed to set up the form and designed it the way I want it but I can't get one crucial thing working and that is to get the messages submitted to my email. I have played around with it for some time now, but I just can't get it to work.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the pop/smtp settings.

Is someone else here using Cforms or can you recommend another contact from to use?

Thanks.

CForms is a complicated plugin. They've also chosen to operate outside the WP plugin repository and haven't made automatic updates a priority. For those reasons, I don't use it any more.

I've used this one: WordPress › Contact Form 7 « WordPress Plugins quite a lot and haven't had any trouble with it. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles that some of the others have, but it works.

      Thanks for the reply!

It's kind of weird, because I have been looking at some video tutorials and all that you seem to need to do is just to enter your email in the admin email message option menu...

Right, so contact form 7. I'll give that a go then.

I have tested this out now, but there seems to be some kind mysterious black hole here.

I entered my email in the settings but when I try the contact form out it says failed to send message.

Can this have anything to do with the fact that I run wordpress natively on the computer through bitnami? But I find this unlikely because I can get my opt-in form to work.

        Any ideas?

It can have everything to do with it. It would have been much better had you mentioned this in the first place.

You need to make sure that your PHP install is configured to send mail. #2, you need to make sure that your ISP will allow outgoing mail on the port that might or might not be set up to send mail.

Easiest way to test is to write a short PHP script that sends a mail when you load the page.

What you're saying here is that the contact form works - the mail just isn't being sent.

Just to reinforce - if you're trying to troubleshoot something on a non-standard installation (and running from BitNami is about as non-standard as you can get) you really need to mention it up front so people who are helping you have the whole picture.

You might need to know that contact form plugins can slow down site quite a bit, if you need fast loading site for better SEO, you better look at other options.
