Subdomain?

I am trying to install a WP theme on a subdomain. I have installed it to the themes at the main domain. I followed the instructions here WordPress Themes - How to install a WordPress Theme

But I am still getting a 404. Anyone know some one who can do this or point me to a better 'how to'?
