Need a reccomendation for a wordpress theme

Hello Warriors,
I have a fishing related website that I have been building for a year now, by myself, with only kindergarten-level HTML, no web design knowledge, and no outside help other than the hundreds of helpful articles on web design, SEO, etc. that I have read online. I have been told that I should get a new theme, I'm currently using Mandigo, in Wordpress, and it is a very plain theme, but I think it is designed for users with much more experience than me. My website is very un-proffessional looking, and I want to make it look like a website, not the soup sandwich that it is now.
Having said that, can anyone recommend a theme that is newbie-friendly that I could incorporate all of my present content into without me ending up in the "nervous hospital" ??? :confused:

I have written an entire blog post titled The Top 7 Best WordPress Themes/Templates which you may find helpful.

My suggestion is to take a look at the Genesis framework by Studiopress who offer some of the best themes for wordpress on the planet

You may also consider Headway which uses the drag and drop visual editor to design your site rather than coding. Premiumpress and ithemes may also have a few themes that may suite your needs

  I personally think this blog is well made. If you do not say you're a novice, I think that some professional did it. I recommend removing some information on the home page because visitors will hardly take anything you can suggest. Maybe a good idea to divide it into several smaller pieces.

  @rosarionet - Thank you very much for the compliment. That is exactly what I have been wanting to do - organize the homepage content into sections, with small pictures, like you see on most blogs and websites. A more organized homepage might scare off less visitors.
  I'm looking for a theme that will do just that without me having to code it, because I can't. Also need a theme with SEO functions, image reduction, and more bells and whistles. My current theme has almost nothing. Maybe I could keep current theme and accomplish what I want using plug-ins? Unfortunately, my wordpress is something like 2.6 - it needs updating as well. $ is limited.

  Thanks to all for your replies.
  I have read in many places that Thesis theme is the ticket, but I also read that it is geared more toward the professional, and not for newbies. That has scared me away. Do you guys think that with a little "forum support", that a "greenhorn" such as me could use Thesis without ending up in the "nervous hospital" ? :rolleyes:

The Thesis theme is definitely suitable for beginners. It helps if you install the Thesis OpenHook plugin so you don't have to play around with hooks and coding, you can simply insert text/html wherever you want.
