And posting it here will helps us HOW?

Are you on the dev team of WP? Are you on the several mailing lists where developers and users discuss future improvements and features?

What I don't like... the online theme editor and the wysiwyg editor. They should be banned because every idiot f****s up their blog with them

nope not part of WP dev team lol

developers and marketers have a totally different mindset when it comes to requesting features and improvements - am hoping i get feedback that addresses the needs of actual marketers and possibly non technical people who use WP on a daily basis who have real life issues and frustrations with it...

I know if i was on those mailing lists you mention the needs and improvements would be coming mainly from developers as opposed to marketers...

developers can code you the most perfect thing, but honestly unless they have a creative side its gonna look pretty crappy... and since they are not marketers they tend to have zero concept about call to action or features that convert business

whereas a marketer knows about the things that can help a business online but tends not to know how to string two pieces of code together...

theres a lot of people that absolutely swear by WP - i just cant believe it is it seriously that perfect? lol

how does it help you telling me what you dont like or how you would like to see improvements? perhaps i can address the issue with a plugin else it simply gives you an opportunity to vent your frustration!

If you can find something better for your requirement, go use it. Why raise questions about WP? A lot of people like it for the ease and flexibility. If you don't agree, you better look for an alternative and share it with others when you find one.

James just curious you say almost anything... What things wouldn't it be perfect for - just genuinely curious what you wouldn't use it for... You saying it's overkill for something or it simply can't do what you want it to do...

Do you guys find yourself installing certain plugins/widgets on every site you use?

Are you using pre-made templates or your own custom ones?

          Thanks again

The thing is... you are listening to the wrong people.
Only half-educated, ignorant WP users think WordPress is perfect The Warrior Forum is full of them!

They are the ones posting everyday about their struggle with WordPress: they are always trying to "force" WP to do something their way... instead of learning the ropes of WP and using all its features in their own advantage.

In other words: they are working against WP (and WP is against them) instead of using it in a knowledgeable way.

Advanced WP users are fully aware of its limitations and they keep those in mind already in the planning stage of their website. And they have way less frustrations.

P.S. The remarks about developers vs. marketers (and I would add: vs. designers) are valid.

I find wordpress flexible and easy for a newbie to work with. Am not a developer but considering that there are web 2.0 enthusiasts who are not techie, then wordpress could just make their life easier as they start off.

thanks Istvan Horvath i appreciate your input and feedback its those limitations that i am wondering about

instead of getting slammed on this thread lol i just started looking at peoples posts requesting help - its interesting to see the array of issues people are having but is also a slight indication as to where peoples expectations are too

i have the opportunity to take over an open source project - and am toying with the idea of making the target end user be specifically aimed at every day marketers and extremely non technical people particular with the uptake of mobile marketing, and have something that works out of the box that doesn't require additional plugins to be mobile ready

obviously wordpress has the largest user base and am well aware of that everyone thinks its easy to use, i guess i need to invest some hours back into WP that last time i used it i honestly didnt think it WAS actually that easy to use... but thats going back a few years...

to add to that what some people consider easy may actually not be easy for other people to understand lots of people have different learning curves and attention spans and also have different learning requirements, some people are more visual than others some more hands on... i guess thats what i was getting at and wondering if there was room for improvement

in addition to that i was genuinely looking to expand my skillset and looking into possibly creating a widget/plugin for WP since i already do it for joomla - it seems a twilio/openvbx WP integration keeps coming up am already looking at a standalone configuration, the best way for me to learn about something is to get thrown in at the deep end and literally get your hands dirty, you never know i may come up with something totally handy for everyone

with regards to the designer/developer/marketer its also very rare you find someone that is knowledgeable and good at all disciplines and also not an a$$hole! lol

I routinely say to myself aloud "I $^#ing love you, Wordpress." It's perfect for me.

But, apparently I am "half-educated" as some have suggested, so take this with a proverbial grain of salt.

As a designer/marketer, I would agree with gcollier. My developer, on the other hand, wouldn't agree so easily...he tends to want to use it less often than other CMS apps. Whether I'm 'half-educated' or not, it is easy for me to create a site and focus on design for marketing using WP because I am more familiar with it than the others.

This post is generating some interesting responses, thanks for starting it.

@techdiva - thanks for the input.

Question - i am thinking WP was developed originally to target bloggers. But it seems most internet marketers are using it more and more, i know some self proclaimed gurus really put it on a pedestal and highlighted its ease of use, and am thinking that's partly the reason for its success, a lot of IMers used it initially and it basically became a growing trend and THE tool to use to quickly get content online obviously because of its easy learning curve...

Personally I don't believe WP's framework is actually anywhere close to been as powerful as Drupals or perhaps even Joomla's but saying that its like comparing apples to oranges - i know Wordpresses flexibility in what it can do with the latest release has jumped tenfold however despite it being not as technically advanced as its peers no one can dispute the fact its user base is not impressive, 50+ million downloads compared to around 6+ million for Joomla and less for Drupal. There is also overkill you dont necessarily need the likes of Drupal or Joomla to whip out a a single squeeze page and a simple autoresponder lol

Am aware that the amount of times it has been downloaded doesn't necessarily imply its been installed that many times, and it may also be an unfair indication due to the functionality of the way WP gets updated compared to the other resources but none the less - i think if you asked people on WF to vote for their favorite resource i am under no illusion WP would be the triumphant winner.

So back to my question lol is WP out of the box IM'er friendly or do you need to install addiitional widgets/plugins to make it the IM'ers perfect web resource?

additionally what are im'ers using WP for? simple sites, mobile sites, squeeze pages or something a lot more elaborate?

    thanks again
