Genesis theme customization question

I haven't purchased Genesis yet (StudioPress), but I am seriously thinking about it. I would like to know if it is relatively easy/simple to change the background and headers in Genesis framework, or is it dependent on the child theme?

I have worked with Thesis a little and find that not too difficult. I can change the thesis background in the custom css file. Is it accessible in Genesis much the same?

I did end up getting a Genesis child theme and have managed to customize the background and header. I am familiar with the code enough but sheesh, Genesis is not for a beginner! Thesis at least has a nice interface for customizing fonts and uploading a header at least. I managed though...

I am web developer and I create templates. I can say that you can customize any theme regardless who made it if you know Adobe Photoshop or other graphic editors.

  You may want to go with the flex theme or builder theme if your a beginner. You can do everything that you can do with Genisis and you will have a much better time of it. I have the themes and I also have a builder style manager that goes with builder that takes alot of the work out of the picture but allowing you to do custom and complete sites with ease. Let me know if you need any fuurthur info. Or you can just google builder and flex. I think you would do much better with them and make much more attrqwactive sites with your skill level.
