free hosting?

Hi all

I know this question has been asked a few times in the forum. The reason why I am looking for free hosting is because, I am unemployed and dont have income to spend a website each month. And some time ago, I did have a website that I was paying monthly for 2 years with ad support but the website didnt bring anything expect for bills for the hosting. The website is shutdown since then. But, I am hoping this time around things will change I do have a new idea for a website and this time around, I want to use wordpress.
I recall godaddy having a free host package but godaddy have stopped that for domains purchased after Jan 2011.

    Byethost is large provider for free hosting to its members without any ads. But you will not get a chance to use mail functions and paypal shopping cart. If you are planning to run WP theme then it is the best choice in the market.

    Byethost is the largest free hosting provider without third party ads. But you may not have the option to use mail function and paypal shopping cart.If you are WP blogs then it can choosed.

      You might consider a home server setup. If you have a free base unit around somewhere and a steady broadband connection it is quite easy to get a home server up and running, even if you have a dynamic ip. Even a low powered base unit is capable of running wordpress. I am currently running a number of websites off my own ubuntu driven base unit and they work really well and fast.

      See sig for how fast my software site is (home server). I will probably be adding a wordpress review section soon. It is already up and running but I don't want to link to it yet, though I might upgrade my computer software script to show reviews instead.

      The above is running on a pretty low end base unit of around 1200 GHZ with 1 Gb of ram, though it does use a 15,000 rpm scsi hard drive.

    Thanks guys for all the support. I did use byethost before a few years back and was a bit scared about some of my free test website suddenly taken off without notice. Do they offer a solution if I buy my domain else where and let byethost host it for free so I my domain isnt: yournamesite.byethost.com rather then: Test.com
    couple of more question, at one point if my website finally picks up on the view counts and I want to go for a paid hosting, how hard is it to move my website including databases to another host provider?
