Just Starting and Confused

Hi, I understand that when you have a hosting acct., you must upload files through FTP from your computer to the acct. to create a website.

For some reason, I can't figure out how to create pages on my computer in order to upload them to the site? I'm certain that this is really quite simple, but not yet for me. I want to make a wordpress site.

Thanks to anyone who helps me to understand this.

    If you are not familiar with manual process, make use of automatic installation feature provided by your web hosting company. Once done, you will have your website ready within a couple of minutes.

    If you are using Wordpress, you don't need to make HTML pages on your PC - it's all done directly within the Wordpress interface online. That's the beauty of using WP

    Have a look in your control panel in your hosting account - they may have a function called "Quick install" or "Fantastico" which you can just click to install WP on your server.

    If not, download WP from here

    And follow the instructions in the guide on that page.

      Thank you so much for your explanation. Like I said, while not new to compouters, hosting, servers, etc. are foreign to me so I appreciate you shortening the learning curve.

      I did see something called "Fantastico" so I'll check that out.
