Please warriors, am new to web design and i bought an e-book on web design using microsoft frontpage, though I have found it easy to use compare to my experience when try writing the codes myself on notepad.
I will like to hear from experience designers who once used this software or still using it, the limitations and other isssues in using frontpage for web designing.
Thanks for your help

i would also suggest getting your monies back and not to use frontpage. There are many free and open source tools to learn from with much better security, standards and more active development communities. if you want to learn web design, go to w3schools . com and go over the html and css sections. No matter what move onto doing/using, those two disciplines are imperative.

Frontpage is kinda old school now, You should learn the basics html and css first, following some free tutorials/videos on the internet or also using the w3 site.

A little learning of photoshop would also help you. You can use nvu free software for html/css editing.

But anyway simple html sites are kinda dead now, you should try to learn how to work with wordpress/joomla and try to edit some free themes on your own.

    Good luck to you

      ytntr,

It's an old program used to design websites. It's outdated now, and there are plenty of other, more useful programs (both paid and free) for designing and developing sites.

Frontpage is really outdated and writes generally writes bad code slowing your site down a lot. There are a few options to choose from though if you don't want to learn how to code in notepad.

You could get a different WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) editor like Dreamweaver that writes better code than Frontpage. Just look around on the internet to find one you like, read reviews and download trials. there are even a few WYSIWYG editors you can get for free that are very good they are an obvious option as well when you're on a low budget.

Another option is to just go with a wordpress theme someone else made and shared. There is nothing wrong with this and a lot of internet marketers do it. Most people don't visit thousands of sites and for that reason they really won't notice you use a very popular theme.

Look and see what suits you best.

P.S When you do want to code websites yourself make sure you get Notepad++. This program makes it so much easier as it colors your code and shows the line numbers etc.

If you want a free solution then you could try Kompozer.

However, my personal preferences for a professional solution are either Dreamweaver or Microsoft Expression (both are, I think, available on a free trial for 30 days)

Wordpress is great. It can easily be customised. It is useful as a CMS. It is super-easy to publish new content and it works very well for a mainstream site or blog.

However, for creating sales pages and the like I always prefer just to either hand code an HTML page or use Dreamweaver (or similar) - For a single page site I just find it much easier to do it this way and I can hand optimize it for SEO as well.
