Opt In Form Question?

WEB DESIGN

Can I use HTML code for retrieving email and redirecting to url or link for my opt-in form on my website or squeeze page without using an autoresponder?
I want to send submitter to the link, but most importantly, I would like their email in order to start building a list.
I know I can get one or the other, but I was wanting to kill 2 birds with one stone, if you know what I mean.
If so, what would the code be?

Short answer - Yes. You can do this.

But, there's not a lot of point in just collecting emails without a mail management tool. You can get in some serious poop emailing people out of your own email account.

Basically you set up the optin form with a "thank you" url, which sends them wherever you want, and sends you the form info.

It's more than just form code however to make it work, you need a mail.php type file.

Another alternative to aweber is MailChimp. Its free for upto 2000 subscribers. You couldn't ask for more if you are just starting making a list.

  I concur with the above - you REALLY need a good mail service and aweber are, IMHO, the best.
  
  Apart from the reliability of the service the simple fact is that it is much less likely to be blocked by a spam filter. Aweber is a trusted service.
  
  Please remember that you really should ALWAYS use a double opt-in as well (especially if you have some freebies to give away).
