Add WP To Existing html Site?

Just picked up a big offline client. Will do primarily lead generation for them; however, part of the job is to "improve" their LARGE hand-coded html site. Their IT guy will not consider switching all to WP over time, as he thinks they are "ranking really well for our keywords."

Not to overturn the apple cart, I am trying to figure out if I can leave their main site intact (with some tweaks we'll give them to make) ...

... but ad WP to their site for:

1) Blog
2) Individual services (different target audiences)

Currently they have all services scattered throughout their main site ... we would have them change their homepage to have links to various WP pages or sites for each service

(Imagine an html site in the middle with lines running out to different wp pages like a link wheel diagram ... at least that is what I imagine :rolleyes

My questions:
Thanks very much, I'd appreciate any help or suggestions

Two options: embed or subdomain. See which is more convenient for you.

As Tedel said those are your only two options. I suggested embedded, but it'd cost way too many problems either way from my experience.

Use WP for link your main site. This way your site will stay the same but you can get the WP SEO benifits

question #1 - I have embedded word press into my existing site. I have since converted my entire stie to php, but still wordpress was added afterward and not at the root. soflanetworking.com/wordpress

Question #2 - I followed default wordpress instructions to ge tit installed, the hard part was finding the instructions on how to convert the rest of my site to php. I would say you can find that info here.

Thanks all for your help. Both options are probably out of my experience level ... and I just worked on my Project Sheets today and it looks very grim for any time to learn something new for the next 50-60 years .

After reading the suggestions, I think what I will do is register the .org and .net of my client's site, and simply setup WP on those with links to the main site. I can make 'em look like the main site. I'll have their html site setup with links to the wp sites.

Not really sure what this means as far as rankings go, but we will focus our SEO and link building on these sites, with a little to the main site and see what happens.

Again, thank you ... I appreciate it.
