Hi, Im new on this site and hoping someone could give me a bit of advice. I am looking at starting an adventure travel website and have got some good sites to be affiliated with. I have been learning dreamweaver from lynda.com tutorials but have been reading alot about CMS and wondering if I would be better off learning one of those instead. I want to have a quality looking site and will want to update it as different travel offers arise. I was thinking about trying some small affiliate sites first as am quite new to this and use WP as it sounds pretty straight forward but I do want to take the time to make a decent site for the travel one so just want to know what program I am best spending my time learning properly for the best results. Any adice would be much appreciated and welcomed...thanks in advance. Oh and if this thread is better suited to another area of the site please tell me

    Hi!

I would go with Wordpress, for me, it's always a win win CMS. You will have to learn some coding basics if you'll want to start playing with the design at deeper levels, but as a "just gimme the CMS" thing, and even if you don't know any coding, it's one of the most flexible platforms out there.

Definitely go with Wordpress for ease of use and to get sites up and running quickly - Dreamweaver can take an age to learn!
There are plenty of good themes for Wordpress to get a good looking site - just Google free and premium themes.
    Good luck

You also go with Joomla. Joomla is the best CMS i have ever experienced. I dont think wordpress can be much more effective that Joomla..

Go with WordPress. It's a lot easier to find someone who is both talented and affordable to customize a theme for you. You don't really need to learn anything unless you cannot afford $30 to $100 bucks for customization. Seriously, it's that cheap. You can start out with a good theme from Theme Forest or somewhere else that has the basic look and features you want, then hire someone from Digital Point or from here to do custom work and get it exactly how you want.

Personally I would choose between either Joomla or WordPress, they're both pretty easy to use and have their advantages towards what you want to make, I myself would recommend Joomla over WordPress, but that's just me.

As everyone has said, go with wordpress. Not only because of the easy functionality, but also because of the thousands of quality templates out there.

If your going into wordpress, you may wish to take a look at elegantthemes.com

I signed up about 2 weeks ago, and basically you pay $40 and get access to probably about 100 templates designed for all different uses. Used 3 so far, and hopefully ill have need for more! Since, a template of that kind of design costs like $60, a yearly $40 wont really break the bank
