adding a blog to my site

I am adding a blog to my site and have been told by some friends and people from other forums to take all of my travel stories off my site and put them on the blog. They keep telling me I would get more hits that way. Can anyone give me any ideas why I would get more reads on the stories and more hits to the regular part of my site because I moved the stories from the site to the blog. and does it make sense to do what they are saying. Thanks

    Most of the time the hits come down to people visiting your website, and in the end that's down to the promotion techniques you use (like backlinking, forum marketing and so on).

    By moving your content over to a dynamic platform, such as WordPress, I think your friends and fellow form members are thinking about how such a system has SEO benefits, like

    * search engine friendly URLs
    * tags, categories for them to pick up
    * ability to ping articles when their posted
    * ability to let people comment on your articles

    Now whilst this is great, most of it, if not all can be reproduced in a normal, static web page.

    At the end of the day it's down to you - do you feel as if there would be any added value to moving everything over to a blog?

    Blogging can really make a huge difference to your site's SEO status and PageRank. However, you do not have to literally take out all your blogs, instead you may create another versions of them and try to post them into Web2.0 sites like blogger, wordpress and ezinearticles. Remember to put backlinks of your main site within your new version contents. This way, you are actually doing SEO and article marketing at the same time.

    Building links from high PR sites would really improve your site's reputation. Just be careful where to post your new contents to avoid bad neighborhood. Good luck!
