Wordpress Theme Recommendation

Hi there

I hope you can help.

Where I live we have a Facebook group set up for selling second hand items.

The problem with it is so many people are posting on it that the items go down the page so fast you miss most of it. The other problem too is there is not any categories. The Facebook group has over 2000 members.

I was think of setting up a Wordpress site to do the exact same. I was wondering if you could recommend a good theme to use.

I want to monetise it in the following way:- You can sell as much as you want for a life time membership of say 9.99 Euros or if you only want to list a few items say 0.50 Cents each listing.

It must do the following:-

1. People can login and make the listing themselves with pictures
2. Paypal intergrated
3. Lots of categories
4. People can delete the items once sold
5. People can contact the seller directly

If anyone can help that would be great and if you can show me any sites similar to this which are up and running I would appreciate it

    You need this: Premium WordPress Themes | AppThemes - See ClassiPress. I am using it for a surfboards website and it rocks: Pranchas de Surf Usadas Baratas ou Pranchas Novas.

    If you need some custom tweaks, let me know. If you can code some CSS/PHP you can tweak it easily. Then you just need to approve the auctions and delete the spam users (be ready to delete at least 10-20 per day).

    Thanks for the answer. This looks perfect for what I want. Can I just ask how are you monetizing the listings.

    Would it work how I said in my original post.

    Free listings for life for 9.99 or 0.50 cent per listing (as they only will ever sell 1 thing!)

    You better check the theme/script information, but it can be used to create different listings, with different prices, featured or not, free listings, etc etc. Paypal payments are accepted and it's a breeze to put it live: Classified Ads Software, WordPress Classified Theme | AppThemes (see Features).

    That's exactly what you need. I bought the developer license last year (or 2009 ??) and been using in different projects, it's a good script for WordPress. Even the SEO side of it it's very, very good. Google loves these sites.

    Only problem is the custom skinning, but with a couple CSS/PHP tweaks you have a fully custom site in hours.

        Just checked and this is my setup with Classipress:

        Akismet << Obviously.
        All in One SEO Pack << Works perfectly with THAT script.
        SEO Smart Links << Powa!
        Contact Form 7 << Obviously.
        Google XML Sitemaps << Obviously.
        WordPress Database Backup << Sites can get massive and you don't want to lose all these items.
        WP Super Cache << Sam as above.

        They do have Tutorials and a support forum, community was pretty good and friendly, I am sure you'll find an answer for every question you might have for using it with full possibilities.

        One tip: test the Admin settings/input boxes intensively - that script is really impressive and has a feature for almost everything you need to run a successful classifieds site.
