Hi All,

Can anyone tell me what is the best way to convert a psd template to wordpress quickly? Is there an easy online tool available that does a good job quickly and easily? This is a kind of a complex template from template monster.

Thanks,

Debbie

oh, NOOO way this is done automated.
There are too many things to consider, you'll need somebody to "cut your psd" into html/wordpress (thhat's what it's called).

Just google "PSD to html" or "PSD to wordpress".

Lot of services out there. Or go to Freelancer.com.

    Cheers,
    Rob

If you are using a template, why not go for a well-designed WordPress template rather than getting a PSD converted.

You can slice the PSD and convert it to CSS from Photoshop.. then open up Dreamweaver, or whatever HTML editor you're using, set backgrounds, headers, footers, drop in your Wordpress loops etc.

Upload to WP and you're done. If you know CSS it takes about 10 mins.

Lol, If only life was that easy.

Last I checked Photoshop will spit out a bunch of <table> tags, not very impressive IMO.

Slice it by hand & optimize as you design the psd. If you think ahead while creating the psd, a lot of things in the psd can & should be converted to <div> tags, when slicing.

PSD to WP conversion is a skill and an art, and like most skillful arts requires time, experience and patience.

Depending on what exactly you're trying to achieve, the shortest path to your goal might actually be to modify an existing WordPress theme that's "Close Enough" to what you have in mind.

Alternately, you could hire a professional. There are many folks here on WF and elsewhere online that would be able to convert a PSD to a theme for you quickly for a fair price.

This is a site I'm working on for a client and the template is one they picked out so it has to be exactly the same. This is the template Website template #20881 by Hilary except I've made a few changes to it since his business is more of a sports bar. The way wordpress lays out a theme is a bit different then an html site using tables and css.

      Thanks for all the suggestions!

    Hi goldie22

if you want to convert psd design to wordpress There's this EXPENSIVE program called sitegrinder or a photoshop plugin name divine elemente but I think if you want to sell a theme, the best way is hand coded.

I did download the divine elemente and have tried it but still haven't gotten the desired results. The tutorial looks interesting and it probably is better to learn how to do it manually, so will look at that when I have more time. For now I'm doing the site in html as the client is anxious to get it up for a promotion he is doing. Then I'll work at getting it converted to wordpress.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and tips!

Best bet is to find a Wordpress theme that is similar in layout (columns, header etc.) and then if you are lucky you can slice the photoshop file up to match the existing graphics. There is nothing quick about this process IMO, though.

Its not hard, slice it up, find a super basic theme in wordpress and strip it down to just the loop, widgets, and all that. Add your own divs around the loop and your looking good

Most people pay money to convert PSD files to WordPress templates because they only know to design website in Photoshop, but they don't know how to convert PSD file into WordPress theme. Now, you don't need to pay money for people to do this for you, you can create websites from Photoshop to WordPress promptly with Divine Project and it is absolutely free.

    How it Works?

Open your design in Photoshop and launch Divine.
Assign all WordPress elements in turns.
Specify FTP parameters and upload your theme to web.
    Check the site in browser.
