Wordpress HELP...

Please I need a free corprate or business looking theme for article writing service and where can I find one with just the"Powered by Wordpress"alone in the footer?

I also do not want it to have a seperate column for blogroll or archive... just one column for its main content.

    The one I found has a sponsored link in the footer and I could not remove it.

      my recent theme I used the footer was totally encrypted, gibberish

      needless to say I could not edit it
      So I just deleted all the data in the footer and left it blank

      Then I went in and wrote whatever I want in there

    I would suggest looking at WooThemes. A lot are free and they are really good looking.

    I like working with Elegant Themes, they're fairly easy to work with I think. And it's quite easy to delete any attribution links.

    I'm using Thesis at the moment which I'm loving...so easy to work with it, but no the cheapest though.

    That's right! But it seem so hard to find at the moment. I have tried to upload some themes but I keep getting error result in my hosting cpanel.

    Sounds like your web server is either not downloading the zip file fully or not unzipping it correctly. Try downloading it manually and FTPing it to the server.

    That can actually be removed I believe, I haven't used Wordpress since this time last year, so I don't know what iteration they are on and such, but as I recall, you should be able to find everything along the lines of "Powered by..." in the "footer.php" file. I believe you can actually edit that file from right inside of WP now. Just find your theme, hit edit theme, and find the footer file. If you get a custom theme, it might have a custom name, but if it contains the word "footer" your probably in the right place.

    In fact, if you want to upload that, I can remove it for you, from the code that is. It should just be basic PHP or HTML. Also, keep in mind, your NOT looking for a CSS file. Thats for styles, like look and color, so you won't be able to actually remove the "powered by..." from the CSS file.

    Finally, do keep in mind, removing this is not recommended and frowned upon. If a company/ person is going to give you a theme for free, the least you can do is let them have a small link in the footer. Now if you're using the default theme (or a small variation of it), then it's probably alright. And finally, if you do buy a theme, you probably have the rights to remove "Created by:".

    One last point. There's a difference between "Powered by:" and "Created by:". The powered by is always going to say Wordpress, therefore, in most circumstances, it can be removed. But created by is going to reference the author or creator of the theme itself. As I said earlier, a good rule of thumb: if its a free theme, keep it there. If you paid for it, you probably have the right to remove it.

    Any theme should allow you to remove that "separate" column your referring to. I don't know if they are still Widgets or what not, but there is most likely an option in any theme you have to disable the sidebar.
