Just learn first that how to slice and convert into html ,its not as easy task for beginners well i suggest you to watch Youtube tutorial about CSS program .

Get acquainted with Photoshop before you dive into that task. You need to understand the tools and such. It's very important!

Do some research on Adobe Fireworks, too. It's great for web work

converting the psd to xhtml/css format is not easy... but this is a good start for you to learn, you need to learn 2 things, html and css.. lots of tuts from the internet just ask google, I also learned these things in tuts like lynda.com...

Fireworks is going to be your "easy" way to slice up a PSD. But you need to learn what a slice is, background images,x,y repeat, hot linked slices ect.

if you have basic knowledge of html,css and photoshop then you can easily do it. go to file menu and save image as save for web and devices and then open your file in any browser, get the source code and edit it..hope this helps.

all of these are great suggestions... one problem with photoshop is that it is HUGE!!!

you can a) learn only what you need to or b) go all the way. Going all the way is actually a college level course so expect a steep learning curve.

You need knowlegedge of HTML & CSS then you can begin slicing your designs and coding it or go to some tutorials generally give a step by step guidance about converting PSD to HTML and CSS framework to make it a powerful web interface. There are also options for you to work on various frameworks available and also in learning about the application of CSS styles as well as the Java scripts.

you can hire a freelancer to do that for you, so that your site will be seo and cross browser friendly. and also functional.

Otherwise you can search for tutorials on google and youtube but without html/css knowledge it will be harder for you. to get that html knowledge you can go to w3cschool dot com

you can use adobe dreaweaver to covert pst to html. if you are not familiar with dreamweaver then visit w3schools.com for the guide to coert. I have also learned from that site.

You need Photoshop, which has a slice tool. You simply select to slice the images, which you will then put in html as background, buttons, images...etc. You will have to write the whole html and css code by hand.

The best way to convert them is by starting to learn HTML/CSS/JS. Unless and until you know those basics you can't convert or code anything.

Go to w3school and clear up basics for all those 3 languages before you get into converting PSD to HTML. If you have cash to outsource you can but if it's solely for learning purpose then google up and you would find tons of resources.

I have never used such thing before but after reading your post I have searched and what I saw there are such tools available who makes things with ease, by using those tools you can convert it but at-least you have the basic knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. After converting I don't thing it will not be same as in PSD, so you have to do the minor change by yourself.
