I have been trying for hours to edit the options on my contact us widget

I want it to be in the sidebar and I haven't seen any customizable contact widgets that work in the sidebar of my theme.

I managed to edit the 'name' on the contact us page.

Ex:

Name:

Email:

Message:

instead I need to make it say

Manufacturer

Model / Part #

Name:

Email:

Phone number (reccommended):

Thanks for any help that anyone can provide,

I have a terrible head ache from this one

I believe it's a custom widget from your theme. Without seeing the complete codes it's impossible for us to help.

    • Yea I figured. I dont know of a way to make that available to everyone though, upload it to a directory in a spare domain that I have? Would that help?

I really am wondering where those custom widgets are usually located.

      Thanks again

If it comes with a theme (i.e. when switching to another theme it disappears from the Widgets page) then it is in the functions.php file of the theme... at least the call for it should be there.

Others might be just like a plugin. > When activating the plugin, the widget shows up on the widgets options page...

Initially, there were no widgets, just plugins.
Then certain plugins got added to the sidebar > the widgets were born.
Nowadays everything seems to be a widget.

So, without knowing the theme, without seeing the code - it's just wild guess...

Turns out it is the stock wordpress contact widget. Thanks for the tip.

After I changed it back to the stock wordpress theme, the widget was still there.

I would love to have a more heavily customizable contact form plugin on file, does anyone have a good recommendation?

      Thanks,

I got your PM but unfortunately I can't reply due to my low post count.

WordPress doesn't have default contact widget if I remember correctly, it must be from plugin.

Some contact form plugins I know that support heavy customization:
    - cForms - free
    - Gravity Forms - paid, but worth every penny

I use Contact Form plugin to make my contact page. To add contact form to sidebar I use Shortcodes in Sidebar plugin "http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/shortcodes-in-sidebar/".

Try the theme-functions.php file, which registers shortcodes and widget areas.
