Wordpress Custom Permalink Share

I was doing some investigating on a Wordpress site custom permalink of how to get the year and month to show in a new page url and thought I would share it here.
/%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%/
This will give the year, month and post title.

    Curious the reason why to add that to a url? Wondering if there would be a benefit to it?

    I've always used, as short as possible, only the necessary information, better for SEO permalinks.

    One I've discovered that I don't see many people using and I will be using more is:

    /%postname%.html

    Works for me. Can't prove it's better than the /%postname%/, but "html" pages were suppose to be better.
