Hi,

I'm thinking of using Genesis Themes and I see a lot of their themes are nice...but I don't see any with, for example, a section for a video on the left and an Opt-Form on the right.

Is it because it is really easy just to add a couple of DIVs in the HTML?

I've done this for other free Wordpress blogs but it can be tricky because free Wordpress blogs can have all kinds of weird coding depending on who did it I guess. I'm just wondering if it's pretty easy to do things like this with the Genesis Framework.

I'm no expert...but I can get around pretty well in HTLM and CSS.

Thanks,

Andy

Yes, you can with several of their themes. A lot of the top sections are widgets, so you can pop anthing you want in there.

Some will require a little css tweaking.

All in all, I love working with them! And the support forum is top notch if you get stuck.

Geneis is GPL and can be easily customised using child themes. If you want, you can download it for free (LEGALLY) from Smart Web Worker - WordPress tutorials, WordPress themes & web design resources. All the best.

      Thanks for the input!

That's the answer that I was hoping for because I've been reading how good the coding is...how fast the blogs load...etc...and how easy they are for people to modify even if they don't know coding.

Like I said, I do like going in and using CSS a lot with HTML to get the looks that I like. I did modify one free Wordpress theme...but man, it was really tough to figure out where things were located in the CSS and HTML files that made the changes for how different sections of the site looked. Plus, there was a lot of code that wasn't really doing anything...almost it was left there as the theme was being developed and changed over time...that made more junk to sift through.

From what I've seen and from what I can figure out...it almost doesn't matter which theme I choose...I can probably modify it fairly easily to get what I want.

      So, anyway...thanks again.

What the heck? How is it free here, but you're paying $60 on studiopress.com? I read the disclaimer, but doesn't make sense to me.

      I must be missing something.

There is no doubt that Genesis is being offered at this link for free,

but how can this be legal?

I just installed one then. Was expecting better from Delicious. I've used several in the past with no issues, however. Can't beat the framework alone.

I personally prefer the Genesis over every other Wordpress Framework. It's simple, stable and easy to learn.

It depends on your skill level on how easy you will find it to use. But you will definitely need to read some tutorials and manuals.

Are there 1, 2 or 3 themes that you know of that are the best...easiest to work with? Or are they pretty much the same as far as modifying the HTML and CSS files?
