Opinions on Wordpress Theme

Hi all,

I'm looking to start a new blog as a fun side project.

The aim is to create a self help blog that intices it's users through geek culture. Lots of fun and practical advice on relationships, success, dating, motivation but presented with tons of tongue in cheek references to video games, comic books, you get the picture.

I want to do this in a wordpress magazine style. I've taken a look around and I'm unsure of what theme to go for. There's tons to choose soI'd love some feedback on what you guys think...
  1. Young demographic (18-25), intelligent, culturally aware, use the internet a lot, can be somewhat cynical
  2. Slick and simple layout. I think Bleacher Report | Entertaining sports news, photos and slideshows is incredibly simple but does the job perfectly as does www.incomediary.com
  3. Must be space on side panel for twitter, advertising, sign up etc
  4. Site has SELF HELP STYLE CONTENT (usually soft, pale, simple themes) but is aimed towards GAMER AND GEEK CULTURE DEMOGRAPHIC (usually metallic, grungey and busy themes). Middle ground is needed.

    I've used a lot of magazine themes and there are many great ones. It doesn't matter what we like ... you have a big list there. Choose one that you like and go with it. You can always change later if you hate it. Just be aware that magazine themes are a bit more work configuring, so if you choose one that is difficult from the beginning, change early and try another one.

    Hey Mate

    You have almost chosen similar sites as the theme search was made by you, and all stand to be good

    What would I suggest is get a hold of a developer show them this sites and then create one of your own and upload it as a theme in WP, this would give you an uniqueness also and you can have a design as per your requirement
