I have a blog I am working on...I have a page I dont want to show up in the search engines.....if I click the "exclude page" box it pulls it out of the navigation from the site...does it also pull it out so that it does not get indexed by google?

If not how do I do that...re-do the xml site map?

Or....change the robots text file?? I have the robots test plug in wp robots txt plug in version 1.0 from Christopher Davis...but I cant figure out how to edit there if thats what I am suppose to do.

Thanks for the help

You could do this easily with a SEO plugin. A good one, like Wordpress SEO by Yoast, has these options for each page and post:
    noindex | noarchive | nofollow | nosnippet

It also comes with a sitemap generator.

I know Genesis framework child themes have the noindex/noarchive, etc... option as well. If you can accomplish this via an SEO plugin as stormwebent mentioned; that would work - or of course, you could disallow indexing via the robots.txt file directly.

Another thing you need to do on a Wordpress site is to exclude this page from the Wordpress search function - I do this using the search everything plugin, as it allows me to list page/post ID's to exclude from the Wordpress search.

I use Wordpress SEO Yoast too, I love it

Have you tried just switching the status from published to draft? that'll keep it from showing up
