How is this Map created? (Wordpress)

Hi Everyone,

Can anyone tell me how this map was created. I have a new client that wants to have a similar map to the one on this website (Year in the Wild).

I did email the website owner but was hoping someone here can shed some light on how this is done. It does not look to be a plugin but I might be mistaken.

    Hi,

    The map itself is simply an image. Each point on the map is an overlay div and when you hover, it is programmed to show you a popup div.

      They did an amazing job with that map though. I wonder how they manage any map updates in Wordpress. I mean if it's not a plugin then how would a website client update that themselves without knowing php or css?
