Wordpress theme help

Hi Warriors,
I have a question to anyone who is really clued up on WP, I have a theme I had the files for but wasn't in zip format. I ahve uploaded it to the server file by file but it was a pain to be honest.

What I want to do (if it is possible) is zip the theme up now it is on the server so I can then upload to other sites the usual way (theme upload through WP admin panel).

I have searched Big G but can't really find anything (except affiliate offers )

Any ideas would be most appreciated, or even a "can't be done" just so I know.

    Actually, the "usual way" is to upload the unzipped theme folder via FTP - that's how the pro users do it.

    Amateurs do the way you do it - via the admin panel.

    If the files are on your HD - open your won Windows Explorer > find the files/folder > right-click > select the zip/archive option...

    It is NOT a WordPress issue... it is a basic "learn the computer" issue

    Thanks for the answer but just for the record, I am by no means an amateur... I have developed websites and completely designed powerful themes using thesis and for your info, i don't use an ftp client like file zilla I use a direct client via a network portal.

    My question was simply can you zip a theme from inside wordpress as i have never had to do it before, or to put it simply, because of the theme size it wold be far quicker to zip it and upload that way rather than doing it the professional way, but, if you zip it off the hard drive like you suggested it brings up an error when trying to install.

    I was always say you never stop learning however much knowledge you have now tomorrow you will learn something new which doesn't make me either amateur nor professional, simply someone who continues to learn.

    No matter how you twist it - it has nothing to do with WordPress.

    What you wanted to ask: how to zip/archive ANY FILE that is already on my server.

      I don't consider myself a complete amateur but I no longer use an FTP. I certainly know how to use FileZilla. I just prefer to use the Control Panel nowadays. I suppose if you are doing stuff mega file uploads, then you'd absolutely want to use something like FileZilla.

    You have to zip the file into .zip format. You can download winrar software for free so that you can make the file into .zip format.

    Another way is upload the file through Filezilla.
