Wordpress subscription countdown plugin?

I'm looking (albeit unsuccessfully) for a plugin for wordpress that will allow me to put a countdown widget on the home page.

Here's the scenario:

I run a subscription site and I want to limit the number of subscribers at any one time to 250. Anything more and it's a customer service nightmare.

That said, I want to build a sense of urgency as the remaining subscriptions count down. I have lots of visitors of late, but am not converting as well. I think this would help.

Does such a thing exist? I suppose it could count down based on X number of registered users (+1 for me).

      Correct me if I'm wrong but the feedburner counter counts people who subscribe to my feedburner RSS feed.

      I don't transmit the subscription only information via RSS, much less syndicated with feedburner. It's available on the site only.

      Or have I got what you're suggesting totally wrong?
