Wordpress url / menu problem - ideas please

Not sure why this happens.

on a few of my simple WP sites , i use a post to put my content on.

I want that post to be displayed when someone clicks on my url , say domain.com , for example.

What i find is that , that post , say, called 'home', is indexed as domain.com/home, NOT domain.com

Hope i have explained this clearly - i simply want a post to be indexed as domain.com without the /home after it

I think its a matter of setting up a custom menu , please confirm or let me know what to do

    Nope, just use a PAGE (not a post) and then go to:

    Settings > Reading > Front page displays:

    and select that page.
    If you want to also have a blog set up another blank page and link that in the setting directly underneath.

    Not confirmed. It's a matter of learning WP (see above reply).
