Help please - I need advice

I've been selling an HTML book for some time but am not getting any feedback which is frustrating. Is there anyone out there who'd like to check the package out and let me know what they think - positive or negative? Whether you do or don't know HTML you can let me know whether it's understandable, opinions from both camps are needed.
How do I want to do this? The first fifteen Warriors to mail me get sent a download link. Visit The HTML Book to get an idea of the content.

Thanks all

    Hi Quicksilver,

I am not sure if I could be of help. I am a newbie to web designing with initial experience using NVU , Kompozer and just started with XSite Pro.

Haven't got my site up yet (at least one done up by myself) but now working on it. I have very little knowledge of HTML relying more on WYSIWYG.
Have bought numerous books on HTML but generally never completed them cods they are either too complicated and technical or plain boring

Have visit your sales site and at $7 bucks with colored diagramsI am tempted.

So if you think I can help to put in my two cents worth, PM me.
    Cheers

    Sylvester

      Hi Quicksilver,

I clicked on the link but nothing came up. I'm quite well versed in HTML, if I can say so. Thing is, what kind of feedback are you looking for? Just purely on the HTML book that you're selling or the offer/sales page?

        Hi,

Which link didn't react? The one in my post works ok.

I want comments on the HTML Book but any general comments on the sales page would be welcome.

If you'd like to check the book out please send me a mail and I'll send you the download address.

        Thanks,

        Mike

          Hi Mike,

I think I have a rough idea of what your book is like because you put it up on your
sales page - that's a big no-no. You're already revealing what you're offering to your
prospects. And based on what they see there, they have already made the decision
          whether to buy or not.

You're offering a book to newbies on HTML programming and the thing that scares
newbies is coding. You have got coding right there on your samples from your HTML book
so that can actually harm your sales.

They don't even need to get to your free offers page. I recommend changing that
page of yours into a squeeze page. It will be a bit of work but you might need to
          redesign that whole page.

Also, I recommend enlarging your testimonials. It is too small at the moment. If
you have pictures, it's even better. If the people that are on your testimonials
have a website, go ahead and put the address in - you don't have to make it
clickable. Just put in the address.

If people bother to check out their address and they like what they see, it's also
possible for you to have a higher chance of a sale made.

Another thing to suggest is to make the words slightly larger. They're probably at
default size right now but enlarging it so that it's easier for the reader helps a lot.
It also gives the illusion that you have lots of content on your squeeze page.

          Hope this helps,
          Asher

            Hi Mike

Totally agree with Asher here, newbies really are scared of code and you are probably putting a lot of them off with your page examples. One page in particular has the line "Here's the HTML" followed by over half a page of HTML with no comments!

I teach web design and in my experience even one or two lines of HTML can be hard for my students to digest unless it's backed up with real hands on examples. If I were you I would definitely get rid of any shots of the book that include large code examples, and breaking the code you do have up with comments.

I can also tell you that the number one concern many of my students have is with publishing a site. Almost every time, if someone has dabbled with an HTML editor before they had problems with FTP. Now I see in your bonuses that you already have a video showing FTP, but you don't mention that anywhere in your list of benefits, and even when you do you don't explain what FTP is - remember, these are newbies!

Personally, I would also try and avoid language like "Programme complex multi-field forms" and "Build complex 3-D tables and the variables available" and replace them with something a little more friendly like "Learn how to quickly and easily edit form templates for your own use" or "Create amazing looking 3D effect borders with the minimum of hassle".

Hope that helps a little and good luck...

              Bill & Asher,

Both thanks for the advice (or should I say advices)!

I've implemented all, or at least most of it and, if you have the time, would appreciate some feedback. If you'd like to see the book and comment please let have an email address I can send it to.

              Thanks again

                Hi Mike,

The page looks significantly better now - very well done! Although, there's one part
that I think you can rephrase better:

                The package
The HTML Book is a PDF document. You receive a 2.8MB zipped file containing the book, exercise solutions and various files needed for the exercises.
Instead of the package, you can state something like...

                Here's what you get:
                - The HTML Book
                - 3 Instruction Videos
                - Personal attention and assistance for 3 months

You're also backed by our 100% Money Back Guarantee.
If at any point in time, you feel that the product isn't
what you're looking for, just send an email and we'll
refund you your money and you get to keep the HTML
Book - so the risk is totally on us.

But it's up to you if you want to use any of that.

With regards to the book, I won't be in the best position to advice you as I'm already
well versed in HTML. However, if there's any advice I can give, you might want to redo
the book in a way that's really easy and really helpful for newbies.

Provide lots and lots of screenshots that can help the reader. Newbies need lots of
help and references. It's your material so you can do whatever you want with it -
remake and perfect it so that even a granny can learn how to code HTML.

Yes looks a lot better. Good advice from Asher above so I won't repeat anything. Just one tiny comment - at first glance the Paypal button in your bonuses looks like where a user should click to purchase the product - if it was me I'd link that through to your checkout too!

                  Good luck with it,

                  Again Hi Billy & Asher,

You certainly gave me some work today.

Asher, when I saw your suggestion for the "re-write" I immediately realised it was better and so implemented it. I also removed the references to my other books as I thought they'd be a distraction. Thanks again.

Bill, Such a simple idea but yeah, so are rockets. Its implemented.

Thanks both of you. I wish I'd asked earlier.

The offer is still open to check the book out so if so I need emails.

                  Regards,

                  Mike
