I need help with wordpress

Hello all

I am planing to create a (coumputer tutorials and courses) site on word press which will include text, images and veiods courses and tutorials. All courses will be free for visitors I am planing to generate revenue from CPM, CPC advertising, Affiliate marketing, subcribtion etc.

So what tools and components I need for this type of site to get started ?
like framework, theme, plugins, widgets, tools, scripts... for seo, security, design, flexibility etc...

My basic need for site are:
  • Should be SEO friendly
  • Should be able to support all devices and browsers mobile, tablet, pc../Chrome, Mozilla etc...
  • Should be user friendly (easy navigation)
  • Should be secured from copy paster, hackers, spammers etc..

There are so many tools and Apps for wordpress but i what to know which will work best for my site please let me know If I am missing anything.

    What I would to:

    - Purchase a premium theme that includes *many* features, possibly even fully responsive. I'd have a look at WordPress | ThemeForest for (in my experience) the best designs out there.

    Then I'd install plugins like the Yoast SEO plugin, W3 Total Cache (= speedup), Digg Digg, etc.. Whatever you need

    I like Theme Hybrid and works well for flexibility? Mobile optimization is also important. If you know a good one please let me know. Wptouch is nice but it does not work on BlackBerry's

      WP Mobile Detector works on Blackberrys and 5,000 other devices according to the developer.

    I am using NewsMagazine theme for wordpress I like its design and functions but I want to increase the width of middle column can one tell me how to do that ?? I have searched on Google but cant find any answer.

      Rather find another theme that is as wide as you wish... When you need to ask a question like this - you will not be able to do it easily, so forget it. IN most of the themes you would need to rewrite the CSS for the container div (who know what's its name in your theme) and some other divs. When you start doing it, the whole process can easily "snowball" = demanding more and more modifications.

      People who are not fluent in CSS should not mess with it.

      that's because for one it's true you do need to know some basic css and you will need someone else that has that theme. Have you tried looking at their support forum most of them either show other people that have attempted the same thing you are or have some way to request help.

      You may need to look into using a child theme modification so that it doesn't get messed up when the theme updates. I don't know how familiar you are with any of this but start with the forums for that theme or pay somebody that knows CSS.

        yes I am working on a child theme and making regular backup but as Istvan Horvath said I also don't want to mess with css so I found a better theme which is wide and better.

    If you want to build wordpress for computer niche, here some my suggestion for you :

    1. Use the simple theme and fast loading. You can select premium theme for this, and don't use the free theme because its not maximum for your SEO.
    2. For SEO friendly, you can choose ones keywords as your domain. For example : bestcomputertutorial.com, computerguides.com, and other that related with main keywords that you will be used.
    3. Choose the best hosting company and have been integrated with multiple features.
    4. Use some plugin inside your blog, such as for SEO, fast loading, gallery, and many more that you can select by yourself.
    5. etc.

    Hope above tips can maximize your blog that you will be build.

    As far as the width issue, you can use firefox's plugin called "Firebug" to highlight the area on your site that you want edited. it'll show you what div tag and css that you need to change, then go to editor in your dashboard area, click css, and use the "find" feature to find the id or class tag you need to edit. do be careful with editing though. i usually copy & paste the original code in notepad, in case i mess something up, i can paste the original code back.

    as far as subscriptions, i use a plugin called "S2 Members". its free and you can create different levels of memberships. Some content can be accessible to free members, while other content can be accesible to paid members.
