The words "better" & "optimize" should not be in there with this laundry list of plugins.

WAY too many plugins, and I wouldn't be surprised if having all that junk installed actually makes your installation even more vulnerable. 90% of the Wordpress security problems we fix are due to having tons of un-needed plugins.

Thanks bud. Yes Im thinking the same way.. I found those plugins from "Top plugins" blogposts in google and thinking this is what the users needed. But I will give the users the option to add or remove plugins before setting up.

      Thanks

quite a soup of plugins you have there, my friend. I am no WP guru, but aren't there compatibility issues rising with so many plugins ? Just wondering.
    Best of luck, of course.

Hi Bryan, Yes there is but all these plugins are tested and so far they're not conflicting each other..

Yes I agree the list is big. I will trim it down and finalize which plugins deserve to be in the initial setup.

      Thanks

In other words, with this "initial setup" thingy, you will just add a bunch of plugin files to the vanilla WP script and the user will have to decide which one to activate.

Isn't the present method simpler? - The user can decide which one to install and activate

lol I was thinking the same. Maybe he should just write a script to copy everything from the Wordpress site

At first I was thinking...wow, way to many plugins. Then when you said that the person would have the option of using them or not, I breathed easier. If you are designing a piece of software to automate wordpress set up, my suggestion is to just pick a few plugins that you know work together and use them only. You have a great idea though. Keep up the good work.

Make sure that your plugins are still actively developed. I noticed that Login LockDown hasn't been updated in over two years. That might create compatibility issues, either now or in the future.

You might also consider removing the default Log In link in the footer to make it a bit more secure, if those other plugins don't already.

Good list, i have always used contact form 7 for the contact page, only because I find that simpler than the other forms to be used.

Thats my original plan to add contactform7 but the other plugin included is more powerful and already have captcha system.

Please include Socializer NOT Sociable. No idea why the latter is so popular. Socializer's backend lets you do an "easy" customization OR use an awesome short code editor. Sociable is just a mess on the backend.

Socializer's skyscraper works and looks great in all the popular browsers. Sociable is a disaster in IE9 -- doesn't even float properly.

I put all of the "+1" buttons in the side bar of each post. Since it floats, people can decide at any point to "Like" it. Then, the bar of share buttons stays at the bottom. It looks much better; standard-sized icons.

        Yeah, that's the one.

I want to second what everybody is saying about the list being vastly too big if it's really going to constitute an "essential" WordPress plugin list.

For starters: test out Socializer and Sociable. Pick the one that you think is best. Giving people two is just giving them a choice that will take them time to make. Why not pre-test and save them time?

You've got Bulletproof and WP Security. Both are fine. Pick one, delete the other. And delete the other crap like Login Lockdown.

The most ridiculous overlap is SEO. WP SEO by Yoast is a great system. All-in-One-SEO is good too. Pick one SEO package. Your SEO suite will do the job of sitemap generator (actually you have THREE of those in addition to All-in-One-SEO).

And as for most of the rest... Favicons... make one in Paint. Yeesh. Google AdSense? Focus on content for the first couple weeks and THEN worry about AdSense. Not to mention the fact that it's easy to put it in widgets. Get a theme that lets you widgetize the header and put a Google Leaderboard-sized ad in it like I did. Check out my site (TimelessFinance) in my sig, then in the main menu bar click "Theme". I've uploaded the custom theme and everything, it's all free.

Sitting on the fence about all of these issues is going to entirely undermine your goal, unless your goal is to create the most bloated plugin set of all time. And maybe a list would be better than a pre-installed version, unless you're going to monitor it weekly and upload a new version every time there's a plugin update.

No problem kojakeugenio. Good luck with the package. I think there's a lot of value for first-time bloggers.

Thanks, but no it's not an autoblog. I'm getting a good amount of traffic nowadays. It's a personal finance blog that I write 5-ish times a week. All 100% organic. Since my blog has a ton of good original content, I'm trying to actively promote it and build visitorship which is working well thus far.

BTW, last week I was semi-obsessed with fixing my site, its layout, plugins, etc. I wanted a widgetized header (it seems like there aren't any decent, FREE WordPress themes with a widgdetized header). I got a custom child theme developed (it's the theme you see at my website -- I have a Google Leaderboard ad under the logo, social media icons in the top-right, a search box in the menu bar, etc.). I paid $100 for it, but I've kept it open source and made it available for free. Just go to my site and click on "Theme" in the menu bar.

This sounds very interesting, but the users should be able to pick and choose what they want to install. Instead of having that many plugins installed at once.
There was a similar plugin I used but it activates all plugins at once and it broke my site. Luckily it was a new installation of WordPress.
