Hopefully time for a little good karma after helping out so many people on the WF...

See my signature link below? Click on it please.

What I'm seeing is these blogroll boxes messing up the entire topside of my website. Using the Guangzhou WP theme.

Problem occurred when I went to add my copyright info at the bottom of the site. Clicked on update and instantly these 14 boxes appeared towards the top of the site obscuring my and no doubt my visitors viewing pleasure of the site too.

I'd like to obviously get rid of them completely but I don't know how to nuke them.

Deleted the Blogroll from the sidebar thinking that might do it to no avail, they're still at the site, well, for me anyway. Don't know about you, problem might just be this end.

If you can see these 14 black and gray boxes too, could you please tell me how to get rid of them once and for all, if you would be so kind?

If it means delving into the code, could you tell me exactly the whereabouts and which precise piece of code I need to delete and the exact page location?

In advance, many thanks for your time and help.

Kindest regards,

Mark Andrews

    Hi Mark
I'm going to guess that these are hardcoded into the header area. Are you using custom menus? If not, try creating a custom menu, and assigning that as your menu structure. Once you activate custom menus, that should override any hard coded menus.

Let me know if you need more help - shoot me a PM with access details and I can have a look for you.

Another option, since you mentioned editing the footer - is that there is an open div tag, and that's throwing things off.

Which means something went wrong during that...
I can see the page's code is not complete: something (wrong code you put in there) "cutting" the code.

Try cleaning up what you did and see whether it works or not. You can also PM me if you want me to look into it from inside.

Those boxes are being called by a function in your header.php file in your theme directory. I can't go through the whole list to figure out which function is calling them, but here's the master word press list of functions: Function Reference « WordPress Codex

Open the header.php file and look for a code like <?php wp_list_page_links(); ?> , just try putting "//" in front of each function you find and saving your changes to see what each one does. Your code will look like this <?php //wp_list_page_links(); ?> . This is called a comment, it basically tells PHP to NOT execute that code, this is a simple trial and error method to understand how wordpress works.

Hey up guys, Ladies too - thank you to each of you for responding to this shout out for a bit of help.

You guys (and Ladies) stepping up to the plate, taking time out of your busy schedules to do so was/is really appreciated. Very much so. I'm indebted to each one of you for being so helpful.

A special thanks does go to Traci of Internet Marketing Services - QuickSourcing (tknoppe) who posted first.

She sorted the problem out in a jiffy where it would have taken me hours to work it out. Perhaps a slight exaggeration (hours) but technical wizardry isn't exactly my strong point, copywriting yes, technical anything? No way Jose.

So thanks Traci - you did a superb job in double quick time and saved me a real headache trying to sort it out.

If any of you three Warrior's ever need a hand with anything, for example help with coming up with a headline or something similar for a sales piece, just get in touch with me and I'll reciprocate your help and advice by doing something for you in return.

The offers there if you need it.

      With my compliments.

      Warmest regards one and all,

      Mark Andrews
